I have a 94 miata with 125k. Everything is pretty clean except for this annoying motor sound. Listen specifically right after i rev it and the rpms are dropping, theres a clanking sound. Any ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAynm89ixAw
Sounds like a loose heat shielding to me, I guess It's the shielding on the downpipe between the headers and the cat. Jack your car up and see if you can move it. It created some really annoying rattling noises on mine.
Engine pulls normally and everything? No misfiring no loss of power?
Nope not a heat shield. Although last week I did find an exhaust rattle and fixed it but the exhaust Mani shield is soild and won't move. A friend told me it sounds like a lifter? Would I be able to tell my taking off the vc? (would it be obvious)
