Don't have them and never met anyone with the Apexi N1 catback either. But with the prices as high as they are, you could buy a custom built exhaust any size you want, or spend half the price for a corksport and those sound amazing.

I dont see the point in spending so much money on an exhaust that is going to give you no performance gain cept for a couple of hp

JDM Tax.

Same reason my RS*R was $500 for what is essentially a stainless milo tin with a pipe out each end.

I think the main reason is that it's a known item.
You can easily jump on youtube and search for "Apexi N1 on Miata" and find exactly that, and know what it sounds like.

Whereas a custom piece, you don't know what it's like until you get it on the car. (generally)

Really? I just youtubed it and did not see a single miata with the Apexi N1 exhaust. I saw some DIY exhaust with the N1 canister muffler, but the miata version of the exhaust does not come with a big canister like the bigger vehicles get. (from reading reviews about it on m.net)

Sorry, I didn't acutally look on youtube.

More a general example to explain that because it's a brand name thing one will be the same as another.
I randomly chose Apexi, probably a bad choice without having looked to see if it's on there.
In that case, just pretend I said another brand that's more common :D

Same as a Big Mac is the same in every state, so you know what you're getting.

All N1 exhausts are not alike.... My son put a Apexi N1 in my car while he had it. It was hideously loud. Even with a glasspack added to the pipe and the silencer in place, it was too loud for comfort. I had a stock exhaust installed before I drove it back from Tacoma to Atlanta. I could have never made that trip with that muffler.. Anyway, I have just ordered a SR-S N1 from ebay and I'm waiting for it to get here. We'll see how loud it is. By what most folks say, it's supposed to be rather quiet....

They do make more (or did make more) than one exhaust. I had the Apexi R in my '95 R with supercharger. It was an awesome exhaust. I'd snap one up in a minute if I found one. Unfortunately, they are very rare....
