Aftermarket Gauge Pics...

2025 Views 17 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  gwilo
I'm getting ready to buy and install some gauges in my NB and was wondering if you all could share some of your dash pics with me, how and where you've mounted them, etc, etc...

I'm referring to stand-alone gauges from Auto Meter, Sterwart Warner, VDO, etc, etc., not gauge faces for the stock cluster.

Thanks in advance!!!

I think you've seen mine ;)

Yeah, I saw them one at one of the meets, but I didn't get a real good look at them. Those look great. Excellent exposure with the camera also!

Stewart Warner is who I'm going to be going with also. I think they're better quality that AutoMeter, and I don't care for the looks of the new VDO's.
BTW, what gauge is that all the way on the right?
water temp
Alright people, I'm pretty positive there's more than just one person on here that has gauges in their car.
maybe two. Defi Link series white face, english units. the boost gauge uses a "visor".

Those Defi gauges are nice! I like that little hood on the boost gauge.
Wow! Only 2 people in the entire world have aftermarket gauges in their Miatas. Must be a super-rare concept or something... :|
guess so :/
Apparently... :?
I've installed lots of AutoMeter and Stewart Warner gauges and normally recommend people stay away from them.
They are notoriously incorrect and relay bad information.

I highly recommend Greddy or Defi gauges.
Defi actually makes the gauges for Greddy.
Both are very good quality and deliver accurate readings for a decent price.

I'm not too sure about that. AutoMeter and especially Stewart Warner have been around for years. Stewart and VDO haven't been around this long by making "incorrect" gauges.

And as for Greddy and Defi, sure they're nice, but I certainly wouldn't call $199+ a decent price.

But anyway, this thread isn't about which brand is better and/or why. I just would like to see some installations and see what you all are doing so I can get some ideas.
Here are my gauges (courtesy of Road Cone)

I have an AEM A/F guage as well in the glove box.

I had the gauges on the A pillar at one point but I found it hard to see when making a left turn. I like them in the vents as it keeps it looking clean!

I was thinking of putting gauges in the vents, but doesn't it suck when you're cold or hot, and can't get air to you?
I too have installed numerous Defi, Greddy, and Autometer gauges. Honestly, I think I'd go with Autometer. The Defi's are super-expensive (albeit pretty) and I hate the Greddy gauges (at least, the Warning series) The Greddy gauges I have installed have these stupid link boxes that take up an incredible amount of space and involve way too much wiring.
Getting cold air is not an issue as I have AC.

Getting warm air is not really a problem either as I still have the vent by the door. As well, I just adjust the air to go through the floor vents.
I have been looking also to install a few meters, boost , AFM & oil temp into a NA.

The only gauge pod of intrest is Autometer part # 10001 and a few for the VW Bettle that I've seen on e-bay.

I guess I will have to start working with fibreglass again and do some custom work
