I recently bought a Alltrade 8 gallons 1.5HP air compressor. Is it too small for impact gun?
After i hooked up everything, the impact gun has no power at all. I could not even take off a nut on my wheel. thanks

Probably too small. I have the same size compressor and it's worthless. Can barelly even keep a hvlp gun going for more than a minute. Air tools require a pretty hefty compressor and a decent sized tank.

its the gun. My gun is an ir 2135. I think i paid about $270 for the gun alone. You get what you pay for with air tools......

Idunno. Every tool I have tried on mine does not work. Hvlp guns, impacts, grinders, and wrenches. They just make a bunch of noise and generally suck. Then again I have never bought any nice tools for it. Too discouraged by everything else not working my compressor is just a nice tire pump now. I mean I even Tried using it to just blow water out of screens and it's still worthless. After having bought mine I was instructed by more knowledgable friends that the tank is everything. I think there is a reason why most people who use air tools regularly have tanks that are huge.

Well seeing as I have had no luck with mine, I would recommend waiting for someone to chime in that has a good working setup. I just figured I would share my experience with the same unit because mine also didn't work for crap. I really don't know my front from ass when it comes to these. I had always thought matching the cfm and psi ratings was all that was needed, and I found that to be very wrong.

If I had to wager a guess, ~21gal or more.

+1 on 21 or more, i have a 17gal 2 hp kobalt air compressor it runs my impact ok and will do my devilbiss paint guns ok, but running my sander and cut off wheel sucks. im looking at getting something around 60 or 80gal dual stage 5-12hp air compressor.

do not buy a kobalt. also look on cl for a good deal. if you do take a cut off wheel and a piece of steal with you and ask them if you can test it be for you buy it.

Horrible gun. I use Snap-on's and never have a problem no matter what tank. An asthmatic child can blow through a straw and into my gun, and it'll spin for days.

I've used those $50 guns and the seals go bad, everything brakes, doesn't spin.

2hp 7gallon air compressor, with some little husky tools. been able to do all my work with just this little tank and tools... my gun just went out, but it lasted for a good while. im looking to buy a whole new set, just dont know what brands are worth their money...

if you think you have it bad, i have a tiny 1gal for small stuff and when i desperately need it, i use it for the miata..... i can push the trigger for like 3 seconds before it turns to weaksauce...... anyways:

check the gun itself..... there should be an adjustment knob on it that adjust the amount of 'free air' that can escape instead of running through the gun itself.... at least that's what mine has at the bottom of it.....
being said, i can take just about any bolt off the miata with a 1gal air compressor...... just sucks having to refill every 10seconds lmfao
