Whats up, looking to purchase new tires soon in either 195/50-15 or 205/50-15 for my 2000 NB. I was wondering what you guys could recommend considering the following factors I have listed:

*Good treadwear
*Summer tire/dry conditions is fine, doesnt have to be all weather (wet/snow)
*Stiff sidewall, bought some Continental DWS tires a while back and sidewall flex was just not good, uber squishy in the corners.
*Affordable (less than 1K for sure, doesnt have to be dirt cheap but nothing crazy either)
*Grip/handling for spirited driving.
*Aggressive/performance minded looking tread design, not a fan of the touring look.

I think you need to be more specific. What is "good treadwear" in your opinion?

Every single 205/50/15 is under 1k, you seriously didn't exclude a single tire.

My bad well last at least 50K (I dont do burn outs or anything of the sort but sometimes a little spirited driving) Suspension is stock and alignment is good so I factored those in as well. Guess I overestimated the tire pricing, less than $450.

*My main concern is the excess sidewall flex, do not want a squishy tire.

Well if you want 50k out of them pretty much all the performance tires are now crossed off the list. Every time there is a thread like this tires like; Dunlop Starspecs, Kuho XS, Hankook Rs3, Yokohama AD08, Toyo RA1, Toyo R888, Azenis 615tk, etc. None of these tires will even get half, 25k, of the mileage you want. All these tires will last ~9,000-20,000 miles depending on tire, amount of events, and driving habits.

Toyo t1r wont even get near 50k, more like 25k, but better than the list above.

If you are expecting 50k start looking at tires with 340 treadwear+

Honestly if you are expecting that many miles out of them, you are not getting a performance tire. Just accept it, they all will suck in comparison to any of the tires I listed.

If you must get a tire with that high a tread I'd probably go Yokohama S drives or something similar. I have heard pretty good things about them, and the reviews on tirerack are pretty good. They should last you a long time with decent performance.

For less than 1k you can get both aggressive summer tires and decent all season tires. You can also look on CL for a set of rims/tires because you can usually get something decent for around 500-600 dollars with low mileage.

a 50k mile tire will feel like **** on a miata. they will not respond well either.

quit being a puss and just buck up and get decent tires. AT LEAST a falken 912 (moderate crap) but a yoko s-drive would be a bare minimum good tire.

honestly i would probably go with either s drives or dz101's. from my experience with these tires (in my shop and on my cars) they have decent handling and i know the dz101's will last for a while. If kept at proper air pressure and rotated every 5k.
