Iv'e just picked up a set of wheels and the wheels are caked with brake dust and the brake dust is on them pretty good. Tried washing them but it did nothing... Wondering if you guys have a secret to clean brake dust off wheels and to bring back the original color instead of that nasty brown look. Thanks.

You are going to need a strong dedicated wheel cleaner. Most over the counter cleaner is very weak. You can get stronger stuff at independent suppliers for dealerships and the like. Alternatively look on a detailing forum for a well rated product. Be careful what you get as some wheel cleaners can eat into clear coats and peel chrome plating.

Wheel coatings are a waste of money. A quick coat of car wax will do the same job.

Carbotech sells their own dedicated wheel cleaner. I haven't used it, but it's worth a try.

And I've used Rejex on wheels before with fantastic success. Blowing the wheels off with the air gun before washing the car every other week was more than enough to keep them looking fantastic for months.
