Well here is the story. I drive a 92 1.6l and the front crank seal is done, waterpump going, vavle cover gasket, and the killer, it has a bunch of blow by. So I cant decide if I want to rebuild the 1.6 or

Buy a 99 1.8l and redo the gaskets off the car. is the 1200 plus for a new motor worth the power gain? Thanks for the input

1200 Is very much worth it. There are guys puting down 130whp with that engine and an ECU. To rebuild an engine (1.6 or even 1.8 ). Just the machining costs ALONE for my rebuild are going to be around $1500, and thats not counting any of the nessesary OE parts I bought already (oil pump, Gaskets, pistons/rings,etc). I am doing a performance build, but even If I was not an engine swap would have been a far, far more cost effective solution.

i think he means an an aftermarket ecu that's been dyno tuned. Meaning it puts down decent power without opening it up, header, itb, etc....
