Alright, I made a mistake, and I let a girl borrow the beast. But, I had my reasons, I was moving, she owned a truck, I needed a truck, and the rest is history. It was low on gas when I gave it to her, she made one, three mile treck in the car and that was it. 4 hours later, I come by to see she left the parking lights on, and I'm not getting anything from the engine, no turn-over, no ticking, no nothing. We try push starting, nothing. Jump start gets me nowhere. She goes to the gas station, and grabs me 2 gallons of premium...still, nothing. I'm pissed, I take her truck and go home.
Next day. I make it back out there, and try to assess the situation. Check interior fuses, all is good there. Under the hood, I find the main power fuse (black 80 amp), and it's blown. Send her to the store, she brings me the fuse, and some beer, I smile. Replace the fuse, and all is right in the world of my Miata. She cooks me dinner for the trouble. I'm happy, the end.
I'm not sure what caused this fuse to blow, but if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, check this fuse out. Much cheaper replacing a $3 fuse than, perhaps a starter or ignition switch. Hope you never have to go through this though.
