Hello everyone! If you didn't know I'm a new member with a question. Does anyone know if the Starlight Mica color for the 1996 Miata M-Edition is still made? If so can it be put on a hard top? Thanks again!

I am sure you can get the paint code from Mazda and get a batch made up. $$$ though.

I imagine a good shop ought to be able to mix a really close match.

The color that your car is right now has resulted from many many variables;

The chemical composition of the paint
The temperature at which it was applied
The rate at which it dried
The humidity when it was applied
The amount of fading resulting from UV exposure
Etc.

Even if you could get your hands on some of the paint that was orginaly used to paint your car, the odds are it wouldn't match.

Take it to a shop that has a reputation for doing good paint jobs, they should be able to get very close.

Yes, it should still be available but check with your local paint shop to see which manufacturers (PPG, Sherwin-Williams, House of Kolors, Dupont, BASF, etc.) they carry and which ones can supply you or your body shop with this color. The OEM color code for Starlight Mica is A5.

Your local paint supply shop can also take a multi-point sample using an optical scanner to get a perfect paint match that takes into account the wear on your existing finish.
