So, I stumbled upon this MX-5 for sale...

http://web.archive.org/web/20190301150759/http://www.kelderautos.nl/Mazda/MX-5/1.6i-16V-3299514/1788/1/3/details.aspx?zoek=&mrkid=49&mrk=Mazda&so=gallerij

[I'd like you to notice how I archived it so the one person who'll stumble upon this by pure chance in 3 years will still be able to see the damn thing]

And I thought it might just be a repainted Le Mans...

[+]
- The car is an NA6
- Like the Le Mans, it doesn't have a third brakelight (although I'm not really sure what dictated its presence or lack, so that might not be as uncommon a trait as I might be making it)
- Of course, the bodykit (pretty much the reason for this post, as I have been unable to find any replica kits out there)
- The gauges would indicate to me the presence of a turbo

[-]
- The rear lip and spoiler are missing
- The car is listed as a '93
- The inside of the trunk is grey as well

[-, but...]
- The specs given are those of a stock Miata, but they're very evidently copy-pasted from some website
- No trace of the vent decorations, but if someone went through the effort of repainting the car they're likely to go through the effort of pulling some half-assedly glued decorations out the interior

What are your thoughts?

Interesting. I had to google the le mans to be honest, didn't even know such thing existed.

This article states that five cars were repainted, sounds like it happened before they got sold, too. If the dealer repainted it they would have made it so that nothing of the orange/green is left.
Most NA6 in europe didn't come with a third brake light until around 94 when it became mandatory in most countries. Miata always had them.
I think the biggest mystery is wether it has the bbr turbo or not. And I don't think they wouldn't mention it in the ad if it had one but who knows? Maybe it's in such bad shape that they better not talk about it? :D

I'd say yes, it could be a Le Mans.

*edit* sorry, I have to rectify myself.

According to this link they all came standard with power windows which the car in the ad doesn't have.

So most, not all... anyone knows what factor determined which? I'd guess country, but then which got it and which didn't?

I really don't think this dealership knows their cars enough to really know at all. I reckon they were just either plain unaware, or plain unaware it was noteworthy.
(That, or those gauges aren't for a turbo and I'm an utter muppet)

Ooooooh!

Well, that was anticlimatic.

So, that settles it. Thank you very much for your help and research!
But at this point the problem becomes... Where does that kit come from? Is there anyone outside of Mazda that made it? And if not, how did this one car, apparently sold two years later, end up with one (or rather, most of one)?
Anyone got a clue?

If I remember correctly, all of the non-green/orange cars were repainted black. I believe I read that at some point.

Same body kit though, which is great. Add an FM turbo and repaint it. :)
