custom radiator?

hey gang, here we go.

In looking at Maypo's KL V6 conversion on his miata, i was looking at his upper radiator hose. it seems that he just used the miata radiator and made up an extra long upper hose. i didn't like that seeing as how it had one bend in it that was quite awkward.

here is my question. is there any manufacturer located here in the US that currently offers a miata specific aluminum radiator that could probably fab me up something custom. what i'd be looking for is basically a standard miata aluminum radiator, but with the upper outlet on the radiator basically to be on the right side of the radiator instead of the left side, also repositioning the coolant fill spout on the unit while in the process.

having this done would make the piping easier for anyone attempting the v6 conversion on their miata.

i know its asking alot, but in having this made up, i would be looking for something within a reasonable price range, possibly close to what a normal aluminum unit would cost.

any suggestions?

thanks
alex

call AWR racing in San Diego. (www.awrracing.com)

They can work with Ron Davis Racing to make something for you. Not sure of the cost, but they make living making custom parts... Tell them Matt Andrews suggested you call.
may need something similar....
I have heard of people using civic race radiators in FI cars.... using custom bracketry and such, so that IC routing would be easier

I may be driving cross country in october.... vancouver to LA.... and need something with some massive coolong potential

Don't bother Tony @ AWR, he's just a middleman. Contact Tim @ RDRP and tell him Bill Wilner from MiataRoadster.com sent you.

Don't bother with Tim @ RDRP, he's just a middleman. Contact, uh, Kaiser Soze @ WTFBBQ and tell him David Woolery from Garage Woolery sent you. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Call Li-Chin Pan in China. Forget all the other middle men, get it from the source. Most stuff fabb'd in this country still start as a radiator core imported from that part of the world.

Tell them Prime Minister Wen Jiabao of China sent you. maybe that will impress even more people.

All kidding aside, Tim at Ron Davis is ultimately the guy. but I would be suprised if he'll do CAD design work for outsiders. (I could be wrong) Tony will know what changes need to be made to the radiator he helped design. and can help you get it done.
fluidyne will make you one. so will griffin radiators.
