Little known JDM trivia: one of the factory shop options is this 'driving seat' with more aggressive bolster:

Looks like it's the stock seat with more aggressive bolsters. Needless to say- it's extremely extremely rare. If I could get my hands on a pair of these, I'll definitely try to have the bolsters and upholstery reproduced. A lot of folks have worn out seat upholstery - I'm sure many of them would like to refresh and upgrade their stock seats at the same time.

Really nice work! I like your interior scheme too. That's pretty much what mine will look like in the next month. Then maybe some red carpets and dash parts...

What leather is that? Katskin, factory match, or something else? Nice looking shade of red.

Glad I wasn't seeing things then; spotted seats like this on a car imported into the UK about 2 years ago.

Thanks for the compliments! I don't know what kind of leather it is, I just picked out a color that came closest to the '93LE and the upholsterers coordinated with a tannery to get the correct shade. I had to wait quite a while though. I think I'd like to do the center section again though. I'm considering using memory foam for the centers.

Should anyone want to customize the bolsters on their own seats you should take a look at tomyang.net in the section where he did his Ferrari's seats. He painstakingly searched for the correct density of foam (mattresses) and proceeded to carve it out with an electric kitchen carving knife into the original shape of the seats.

Jesseclee, that's a very interesting piece of information on the optional bolstered seats. Indeed, that's the first time I've seen that. I wonder if it was only fitted on the driver's side? Or could both sides be ordered?

... then again, everytime I see Randy's car the more I think that the vintage seats are more appropriate for the car's appearance.

But overall, it's the varied and diverse styles and themes that each of us pursue, especially on this forum, that makes the car such a great toy!

Is it just me or does the seat back look skewed to one side on that seat? Probably a good way to get it to fit against the door (offset to the center)...I had "issues" getting a SParco EVO-II to firt so just sold the seat. Found out later that the set I saw in a car had the ears severely trimmed to fit.

91Eunos,

If you look at your own Miata seats they're likewise skewed towards the center. It's more apparent from the rear.

frankthetank_86,

The parcel net is a BMW Z3 part. I got it from a BMW dealer.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Bryan! I really wish there would be others that would customize their own seats and do an even better job and perhaps even come up with specific measurements on where to add foam and where to take away foam, such that a kit could be made.

Mine do need a recovering...I'm just not as tempted to do it, since my car is slowly slipping into autox-only Hell. Just told the shop that's working on it to de-power the rack and yank the A/C compressor...

I hear 'ya, Bryan. I'm teetering on the brink of that cliff right now. To avoid the temptation to redo my stock seats I just yanked them out! Well, the passenger seat, at least. Currently rolling with only the driver's seat. Both soon to be replaced with OMP WRC carbon/kevlar replicas. On my walk home from work today I was questioning how badly I really need the A/C as the engine bay would look so much cleaner without all that stuff. And I've already decided that the PS is going. Just need to source the right idler pullies but I won't until I decide what to do with the AC.

Joey, your seats are the nicest oem based seats I've ever seen. They're beautiful. OT, what's the diameter of your meatballs? I'm getting some done up in white.

my apologies for the delayed response. I wasn't notified that there was something new on this thread.

To answer your question, the number plates for the doors were around 24 or 25inches in diameter so that they would purposely cross over onto the rocker panels.

I've forgotten what the diameter was for the ones on the trunk but if you look at the white car's number plates you can more or less approximate the size on your own car.

perhaps we can start a meatballs/number plates thread on here too ...

Some nice further details of the ultra rare optional deep seats. Notice the neat details; the badging, the subtle "Eunos" emobossed into the headrest. I like a lot. Anyone want to hazard a guess how much if a set of these came up for sale??
