I wanted a JDM double din center stack but the one I was eying on eBay sold right when I was going to buy it so I gave in and bought the DDM Works radio bezel after buying the Metra install kit that did not remotely work for my '90 so it was bugging the hell out of me.

Initial impressions

DDM Works shipped it very quickly, I ordered it last Thursday or Friday and it arrived yesterday. Quality is good, its just a black piece of metal. Comes with mounting screws but they did not fit my head unit, luckily I had screws that fit.

Before DDM Works bezel

I only managed to use the two brackets to mount the radio - everything else did not work at all. It was an ugly install.

The install

The install is pretty straight forward, remove clips that lock the head unit into the radio cage, bolt to bezel and adjust accordingly. The way I have it, you can't remove the faceplate, but the CD slot is still accessible, which isn't a big deal for me.

Completed

Everything bolted up nicely.

And now the radio doesn't stick out half an inch anymore!

Verdict

If you're going to install a deck in a 90-93 Miata and can't find a JDM radio bezel, just buy the DDM Works bezel kit. It's a bit pricey ($95) shipped but looks much better and makes it much easier. It also doesn't piss you off like the Metra kit, which was a waste of $20.

Now I just need to find a new center stack since mine is a bit broken.

A lot cheaper than the $200+ jdm tombstone, though.

+1 on the mentra kit being junk. I originally went through two of those things to try and get it to fit right, smashed one with 4lb sledge after breaking off wrong tab, and had to dremel bits of the second one and grind a little off the inside of the console to get it to fit.

Where as the DDM kit fit perfectly with no hassle. (also smashed the second mentra kit with sledge hammer after getting DDM kit ;) )

DDM kit fit perfectly, but the bolts to screw in my receiver were a tad larger in diameter, also had to bend a bit of metal on the receiver since the tabs were sticking out a bit, but i would highly recommend it!
