Sup dudes (and dudettes, if any)...

Anyways, a few months ago, people were talking about a DIY paint job method using rollers...topic was here & on RDrift.com

So, I decided to try it out. I've been making very slow progress because I don't have a garage...and have been taking off pieces one at a time & bringing inside my apartment to paint (and dry & paint & dry).

Well, I'm still not finished, but thought I'd update a little...

1) So far, I've painted: gas-lid, trunk, hood, front fenders, rear center panel

2) I'm trying different mixes (ratio) of colors...its different shades on purpose, I'll recoat everything at once later

Tell me what you guys think...feedback would be appreciated (even negative ones)...THANKS!!!

Re: Another update...9-21-06 ^-^

Is it really that hard to keep it in one thread? Anyway looks pretty nice
Actually, I accidentally hit the "new topic" button instead of "reply"...but after I realized it, I was just like whatevers...hope it doesn't bother you too much, FWD

Thanks for the compliment, though!
I'll see what I can do about merging the topics :)

Also need to move these two topics to Interior/Exterior.
Sorry about the mixup with the merged posts, folks. I'm learning this stuff as I go!

In any case, this really should be in Exterior, so off it goes :)
It's an RE-Amemiya "style" body kit. There have been so many over the years. This one appears to have larger intakes in lieu of fog lamps and is missing the vertical divider in the main grille opening.
man looks really good! I vote the lighter shade! looks ballsy I like that!
Whichever shade of blue you choose, it'll be hot. I like it.

Blue? Or Green? Green-blue? Teal? Mint?
Yes. Whatever is already on the car will look good. There look to be 3 or 4 different shades.

I'm kind of seeing Lance Schall's Freightliner Blue, or whatever it was called. Almost a seamist blue. Looks a little like my Mustang's Frost Turquoise too, which I *love.*
looks good. I had the same bumper for about 6 yrs that took some curb beatings. Finally got the Bomex bumper on. will post pix soon.

thats a nice drop. whats your ride height fender to hub?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Freedomgli wins today's eagle-eye prize for recognizing my "custom" front bumper.

Since I got my Miata a couple of years ago, I've been looking for a different front end. I gotta say that despite all the choices out there, I don't like too many of them. But, when I saw the RE Amemiya bumper...I saw potential. So, I got a copy (of course) and immediately hacked off the extra verticals for the fog-light & filled up the NACA vents on the nose. As you can see from my pic's, I've yet to fill in the gaps left from cutting out the verticals. I will get to it eventually...hehehe ^-^

Once again, thanks for all the compliments guys! It motivates me to work faster & finish this thing. Heck, maybe my girlfriend will finally not be embarrased to ride in my little Roadster once its fully painted. (she's never dissed it, but I know she hated the primer scheme)

Until the next installment....

-Jimmy

Actually, its a "RE Amemiya" bumper that I've modified to my taste. Yes, its made from fiberglass. Fitment is as one should expect from a cheap (I got it new for $100) copy...VIS Racing, AIT Racing, etc.

Despite its shortcomings fitment-wise...like I said, what could you expect for such a low price, y'know? I'm satisfied w/ the purchase.

Good luck on yours if you get one too! ^-^
you know, when i saw the first progress pics i didnt like the color at all, but now that its almost complete or atleast looking like a car thats not multi colored i really like it. a touch of carbon would do its looks wonders imo. great job, you have more patience with painting than i do.
where exactly did you pick up the front bumper? I was looking for one.

Thanks for the compliment! Do you know how many of my friends have told me the same thing? I know the "green" color sounds kinda...ugly, awful, feminine, weird, blah, blah, blah...but I had this picture in my mind for a long time.

Now that its easier to visualize...seeing is believing...lots of people finally starting to see what I saw - and are liking it!!! Makes me feel better! LOL

Anyways, I will be working hard on it as time permits. Will be keeping y'all posted on the progress...you can count on it!

Have a great weekend! ^-^

You can get it through most body-kit dealers. Since this is a COPY/REPLICA of the RE Amemiya...you can find available through the usual manufacturers such as VIS, AIT Racing, ImportFan (GTP/CWings), etc.

Good luck!
