Really I believe all 1.8 parts are the same except some things for the VVT engines.

What parts in particular?

It'll be on the head all it says is BP or like BP5 blah blah, a BP is a BP if you have a VVT head it will be obvious.

The VIN is on the oil pan..passenger side on a plate..you can verify the VIN with Mazda..check over on MNet for the number to call..

Actually, things are pretty easy..

the 94-95 1.8 will not have a crank sensor down on the right front of the motor and use a 4 pin coil pack.

The 96-97 will have a crank sensor down on the drivers side front and uses a 3 pin coil pack..also those are OBDII..but can be installed as a OBDI by using the right coil pack and injector harness..that is different also.
