I am planning a paint job on my classic red 90. I want the body to be the stock color. The A pillars and hard top will be flat black. I am thinking of putting strips down the middle but instead of a different color I am thinking about doing the strips in flat clear coat.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it'll probably look like you ran out of clear, especially with the flat black top.

I think it could work depending on the colors/theme involved. It'll
be a hate it or love it kind of thing. In for example pics.

On one of my older subarus i did a flat black hood and painted outline of an elephant using different stages of clear,

That looks terrible.

Op, sounds like too much going on. Do the black a-pillar and hardtop (not flat black, that will be awful) or the flat red stripes and keep the body all one color.
