I have no idea what the hell is the matter with me but I couldn't seem to leave well enough alone. Late one night with a cocktail in hand I saw an ad for a Mariner Blue '92 that had tapped a curb. My addiction to Miatas that don't work runs strong so I added another one to the collection.

Flipper.

Seemed a fitting name as I have no idea what the hell I'm going to do with him... Might fix it up for my daughter, might fix it up and flip it, might let my secret inner ricer come out and play. Seriously don't know but we'll see how things go as I start disassembly.

'92 and everything works. My first Miata with HVAC! And yes, even the A/C blows cold. Undocumented 80K on the engine which is running rich and smokes a tad on warm up. Once I get it to the point of rolling around I'll start the usual tune up stuff. Some random shots... BSP lo-pro lights and I have another set of OEM fog lamps in the garage.

Soft top is toast.

Came with a hard top!

So that's what an OEM engine bay looks like! Lot more crowded than I would've thought... might have to do something about that...

Hard Dog XTreme roll bar and door bars are on the list.

A Miata in my garage on jackstands is as normal as breathing...

Already got new control arms from TDR and will be getting some new bolts and nuts as well... Ouch.

Nothing a BFH won't fix.

Buddy Cassio is hooking me up with a body guy for a little side project...

Of course I started dicking with the interior too! Going to rebuild the shifter and received in a set of 'deco' vent rings from my friend revlimiter.

Ordered a set of VMaxx coilovers (kit with NB top hats) and a wheel/tire combo kit from rspeed.net. 15X7 Chaparral's in champagne with Yokohama 205/50/15 S Drives.

Toting around a big bag of Buyer's Remorse right now... sub-frame is FUBAR and everything is in limbo whilst I search the Miata Parts Wasteland for one. Chaps/S-Drive combo ship tomorrow, VMaxx backorder was declined, and my Tein Basis shipped today.

How much of a restoration will this be? Or are you just going to get it presentable/safe to drive and then sell?
:dunno: Not sure how far the rabbit hole will go yet. Flipper's bringing out the woman in me... I change my mind at least once a day...

A huge "thank you" to sfl_miata for hooking me up with a sub-frame. Much appreciated. Having a rolling chassis will certainly help me make up my mind...

Another? Haha. I think you are just having withdrawals from not having Scrat at home.

Needless to say, my vote is strip this one down and do a budget theme track build. That way you can take it out and beat on a miata without harming Scrat. Or stuff an obnoxious engine in it. High compression 1uzfe with obx ITBs straight piped? Bridge port rotary? Zx14 engine with the sequential transmission fitted? 302 with a blower sticking out the hood?

That gets my vote. Perhaps Flipper and Lazarus may one day meet on the battle field. :D

I like the idea of widening the spares... that would be hilarious. Well, parts are on their way to at least get a rolling wreck and I've been thinking that a beater track car would be a blast so we'll see how it goes. As I mentioned I have a sub-frame on its way as well as a quote for a fender and bumper. In the meantime, stuff came in!

Tein Basis coilovers from 949Racing with the optional NB tophats. (Thanks for the suggestion/link, revlimiter!)

Chaparral's with 205/50 Yoko S-Drives mounted from rspeed.net. 949Racing lug nuts.

Already commissioned mk2tmr2 for some custom center caps... can't wait!

Hoping to have a mini tech day next weekend to swap the sub-frame and suspension as well as replace the motor mounts since it'll just be hanging there on the hoist.
