FM II, no. The FM II, by definition, includes a programmable ECU. And as long as it's user-programmable and doesn't return OBD-II codes, it'll never get an EO.

However, we do want to get an EO for some of the other kits such as the Voodoo II - and we'll set it up so we have flexibility on the exact fuel/timing control in the future as the parts evolve. I have no timeframe though.
Well fellow Cali Miata owners, FM wants to do a CARB kit for us, but they have no time frame.

Perhaps we can use this thread to voice our opinion on what we want or dont want in the kit. We can also show we are interested in purchasing by voting in a poll, and if we can get enough interest, maybe a group buy and we can help them bump up their time frame.

I guess Ill start :

I would love it if the kit made 200whp out of the box, OR had the capacity to do so by simply turning up the boost, and whatever fuel management it comes with, would compensate the additional boost with fuel/timing change.

I had an Edelbrock Turbo kit for my old single cam Civic that was CARB legal, but the Link ECU was preprogrammed to compensate for more boost, so I was able to to from about 180whp out of the box to about 220whp just by turning up the boost. All while still staying nice and legal when it came time to go to the sniffer as I just put everything back to stock so easily.

Ideally, I would by first in line to buy a kit like this. FMII/R is out of my budget, but a CARB legal Vodoo II around 3kish is pretty good considering that you have piece of mind of a great FM product and no more worries about the fuzz pulling you over and popping your hood.

Ha, thats IF BEGi ever gets the parts to you. And they would give you a crappy FPR/FMU for management for a CARB kit.

And after reading http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=441409 that thread over on m.net, I wont be giving them a cent of my monies.

CLIFFS: Guy drives car over to BEGI so they can install a turbo kit they designed, after a year of excuses, guy picks up car in terrible shape and on the way home, because of a poorly installed coolant hose, the blows a head gasket by overheating, and BEGI will not pay towing fees back to the shop and offers to fix head gasket for an additional $2000 after all the trouble they caused.

F that company.

Anyway, this thread isnt about them, its about a FM kit. I like Kung Fu Jesus' idea about upgradable but easily reversible for those 24 month moments.

They lost a recent sale because of the lack of CARB certificate.

Lol, I bought that Link tuner off you and I'm still smashing around with my Edelbrock kit at 10psi. I'd love to have this same worry-free feeling so that I can turbo my Miata too.
