we just got an Olympus SP-500UZ.

Lots of features, the one thing it doesnt have is auto stabilization, so you have to have a steady hand when you take the picture, or use a tripod. Other than that it has been great so far.

I still need to learn more about playing with the settings in full manual mode...A web tutorial would be useful.

www.dpreview.com - Is a very good source to compare digital cameras. They have very in depth reviews for everything out there.

Personally I like Canon or Olympus for point and shoot and Nikon for DSLR.

Also www.kenrockwell.com has a little bit of a biased opinion but very good tech on his site.

I have an older Sony Cybershot I don't recall the model but it has worked flawlessly.

I have taken great photos even with my unsteady hands on a glacier in Alaska! WOOT!
