Sorry if posted in the wrong section. but it is an exterior problem

So i after filling up gas my gas door lid no longer locks down.

it looks like the little plastic rod thing is stuck. i did some research and haven't found anything on how to fix the cable or how to release the rod.

when i unscrewed the nut and didn't do my much good. I'm not really good at explaining this so if you're bored on the cold friday night. pop your lid unscrew the nut and give me some advice on how to get it unstuck.

ill probably take pictures tomorrow afternoon.

More than likely the part that holds the cable in the trunk is broken and will need to be replaced. Happened to a friend of mine, unfortunately I do not know exactly what its called but if you look in the trunk you will see where the cable goes and what I am referring to. If you do need to run a whole new cable its not too bad of a job to do.
