dang man. reading nothing but bad things here, and how it takes forever to get them resolved... personally i think i would take my business elsewhere. but thats just me.

Well I wouldn't say that quite yet. I have ordered their parts for my FD in the past and have had no issues. They fulfilled my order on the group buy, just one of the products wasn't stitched. A simple mistake, fine. I just don't want this to be dragged out to get a replacement. That is all.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from redline in the group buy as well. (shift boot, e-brake boot, center armrest cover, and gauge hood cover) Everything fit fine, although the gauge cover one was quite the pain to get on the right way. But I had to stretch out the shift boot pretty good to get it fit. However, they were responding back to all of my emails before, during, and after shipment no later than next day and I received my order just a couple days later than the ETA. I'd give them some time to respond since they are clearly busy or something. I can't see them not helping you out, as they are a pretty good company as far as customer service and satisfaction.

Mine looked just like that. It's tight, but you have to stretch it a little onto the prongs. Don't make me take my **** apart just to take a picture of it ;)

Quinn, I just went out and spent about 45 minutes trying to do what you said. I stretched the boot over a 3 liter bottle of soda to get it larger and I punched new holes in the bottom of the boot as close to the edge as possible and stretched it over. I re-installed and guess what? It fit over the frame...barely, until I put the car in 5th gear and the boot wont stretch enough to enable it to stay in 5th. Its so tight that it pulls it out of 5th hahahaha.

I have given them plenty of time. I know they have a good rep and that's why I havent put it in transaction resolution.

CNY's replacement was made specially for this project with a tad wider bbottom opening. I still have no idea how come it happened - we've sold hundreds of Miata boots so I think it is not a matter of a wrong template, but rather it is a small mistake of the person who made this boot.

Hope the replacement will fit as it should :)

with regards

Jack

My experience with RedLineGoods was reasonably positive. The one complaint I could make is the website is a bit of a mess, but with some patience you can work your way through it. Plus they process via PayPal, which has the world's highest exchange rate premium; I would venture to guess PayPal made about 5% off the exchange rate alone. If RedLine accepted CC's directly, that would be the lowest premium (large volume bank rate, non-cash) which is at or below 2%.

Which is, by the way, the same rate PayPal would pay to do currency exchange, if they actually do any, which they normally don't. Either your bank or CC charges you directly at the LVBRNC rate and remits to PayPal in USD, but PayPal still charges you as if they actually did something.

I ordered 5 items from them on 18 October, got a shipping confirmation on 24 October, and the items were delivered to me (in Canada) on 7 November.

The overall quality of the stitching seems excellent, the items were exactly as I had ordered it which required a special note with the order (some items were colour stitching, some were black stitching), and I'm looking forward to installation.

I had a question about the leather grade used, and although I wouldn't call it speedy... some vendors reply within hours or sometimes minutes ... I did receive a response within a day, I followed up with some information they asked me to provide, and a day after I sent that out via eMail I had a response I consider satisfactory. So, "quick" then.

I can't comment on fitment at this point ...I won't be installing for a few months yet ... but the shifter boot seems OK with a number of holes and cutouts on the bottom.

I had considered dealing with a competitor based out of the UK, but their dash panels are made by stitching at least 2 pieces of leather together with an obvious seam the passenger could not help but notice. Panel-stitched leather, of course, is a low cost/low quality construction ... evident if you've ever shopped for leather jackets or leather furniture. They confirmed when I asked that it is the only way they can supply the panel.

I also had a concern about the type of tanning the UK firm employed (but didn't ask about it). Prices were decent, but my experience with the UK Postal System also suggested a long shipping time (I would estimate 3~4 weeks), and couriers out of Europe to North America are wildly expensive.

All in all, I have no complaints with choosing RedLineGoods. Hopefully cny can work out his issues with them.

An update: I received the replacement shift boot today and fitted it to the base. I punched new holes so that they would line up with the tabs and it fits perfectly. Thank you Jack.

Guys

As this is not the first time we've come across the mounting holes issue I need your assistance and advice.

It seems there were 2 versions of the shift boot mounting frame and even though the boot itself remains of the same size, there were fremes with 4 pins on the sides and 3 pins. Same thing withfront and rear of the frame - there were 3-pin and 2-pin frames.

Can anybody please tell us how to distinguish them? By production year? By trim option?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you in advance

Jack
