I've always wanted a build thread.

My mx5 came about after this.

I sold my rolla in 2011 at the start of winter as i got sick of being boring.
My next car was either going to be a 180sx, Mr2 or Mx5.
i decided against the nissan as N/A nissans = not cool.

I then took an auntie's NB mx5 for a drive.
that was it.
I was in love.
I was in love with a car.

I searched the internet for my future partner and only found crap ones. I'm sure you're assuming i waited untill i found a good, clean mx5 and bought it? Nope! i wanted one then!
i found a knarly looking one for 5 and a half.
it had a huge kit on it (originally a fin too), NB wheels and a huge exhaust.

I brought my new honey-dip home and within a few weeks i could tell she was broken.
i'm going to say, a previous owner took 'the spark' out of her life.
and her belt kept slipping.

it was quite a sad thing having the belt slipping on the alternator.
this made the car even more impracticable and was now confined to being a 'day time' car as at night it squeaked it's tits off when the lights were turned on.

i fixed these problems and found some more.

it was a great thing having music coming from two speakers!
then it stopped again. Whhhhhhaaaaat?!?!? Why?!?

well, as we all know, cool kids keep their headunits in with wood. well, my wood just became loose. so, i pushed it back in. it works again =)

then i got a package from my mother...

A mazdaspeed package!

she got me a roll bar!

to explain this thinking, i will show you a picture of the last time i drove my first car.

yeahhh.... for a little while there my little corolla was a rotary =p

so yes!
i got the roll bar in, but i was no fan of the chrome.
the Mx5 is a very girly car (flame suit on) and i needed to fight this by removing as much shiny things as possible. i bought some insulation tubing from a foam and rubber shop and ziptied it on.
i'm not going to lie, it looks super racecar!

">Christmas came and i donned the tinsel and misletoe. i gained some kisses and a stupid amount of attention too.

the closer i got to Christmas the more into the spirit i seemed to sink.

This isn't a one off pose. I drove around like this for a solid week!

I have been slowly sticker bombing it.

you will look at this picture and go;

"More Low!"
"MORE LOW!"

yes! i have ordered coil overs! so cool your jets you crazy cats!

i didnt want to do anything big to it until after coilovers as i am aware it appears quite ricy.

also, i found this photo.

phhh who said the boots are small in an mx5?

EVERYONE says that!
">

anyway, this is it at the moment;

OK then. Carry on with the shenanigans but you might want to change that shifter boot while your pimping your ride with stickers.

The other day there was a bit of a storm in Tamworth.
Like, it all happened within the space of 10 minutes.
and I left my roof down.

It was out side my sister's house so i could steal some towels.

I put the roof on before i took the picture.
but it was so darn wet we decided to take it back off again and drive around in the rain.

While it was raining I drove through some flood water and quite a lot of steam came up through the gear stick seal.

It is pretty messed up. the centre shaft was completely detached from the outside.

so I bought a new one and with the help of some hair spray, my car is no longer burns my hands when I change gears either.

My mother gave me another present

Woo hand made Zebra print gear boot!

I'm super keen for Coilovers!!!!!

rain rain

My roof is getting tattier.

pictures don't give the constant dampness justice.
but at the moment, my roof is about as watertight as a sponge.

so, i ordered a new roof but until then, i am rocking tape.

Looks almost exactly what Ive been doing too. lol. Though kinda in reverse order, and without the creepy pictures ;p.
If I am right about us doing the same things in opposite order, youll be painting youre center console next, to match the new boot and stickers. Good luck and have fun!

I had a peek under my car today...

HOLY BAT CRAP!
I'm sure that is super healthy!

My imagination is telling me that this car was once rallied.

COIL-OVERS TOMORROW!
I feel like it is the day before Christmas.

I once traveled to Australia. Broke my arm two hours after landing in Tasmania. Carry on with your madness. I'm somehow enjoying this.

I got another package today.

I got my dog Bessy to help me open it.

Why?
well, she said her speciality is 'Roofing'.

STORY TIME!
i was thinking for ages about creating some kind of skid plate for my car. so i was surfing the internet looking for ideas and i stumbled upon a heap of guys using stop signs.
Now, I'm sure this has been around for so long, but man! what a cool thing to do!

so, to keep it fresh...

Oh, hey there pretty looking!
I once new someone like you... but they were a 4x4.

It looks natural now!
like nothing has ever changed because this is the way it should look!
I'm also not hating on the front bar now.
">
I wouldn't of chosen to put it on, but I think it will be staying for a while.

I love it more then a wheelbarrow full of musk-sticks.
