I did a "pumpkin swap" (I kept my rear housing) from an open to a torsen diff on my 95 1.8 last monday. I did use a thick bead of Permatex gear oil RTV sealant right around the rear housing and pumkin housing and torqued down the bolts.
I've been driving it everyday and checking for leaks. Until tonight when I got to a friends house and noticed a little blue redline diff fluid drops here and there. I was hoping it was a slow leak but when I got home (30 miles later) this is what I ended up with. I need some advice on what you guys think the problem is. I'm going to jack the car up first thing in the morning and take a look. Looking at it right now it looks like its a bad axle stub seal or the axle stub isn't fitted in all the way. The seal damage might have been from the pry bars I used to take the stub out. If so what do I all need to fix this. Links, advice, and which particular seals to buy and whatever you can give me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
