ok i've looked all over and i cant get a good accurate answer.
how much weight would come off my car if i strip off the carpet in the interior with the center and the soft top...i'm thinking of doing this when i install my roll bar..and i have a hardtop so i have no need for the soft top *yet*

The top is a good amount of weight, Id just remove the padding below the carpet, the carpet itself doesnt weigh much

it looks so much better gone and gives lots of room, the only reason I dont like it, is it will bump me into a class I dont want at autocross

I was told the softtop with frame is in the neighborhood of 40lbs. Is it for sure only 35?

ahh so removing the carpet wouldnt do that much huh? maybe 10 pounds if i'm lucky?
yea.. just about, maybe a little more. some padding under the carpet, and those oem floor mats are heavy compared to the thin carpet

of cousre, if you remove all the other unnecessary parts w/ as well.. it all adds up.

ie the rear license plate surround
.. the glovebox (mine broke)
.. cowl hood (fell off)
unnecessary metal panels in trunk
softtop of course
center console..
+light wheels , seats

a lot of things you can do... LOSE WEIGHT =D>

if i started stripping my car i would probably go all the way. just enjoying the comfort right now

IIRC Mr.Woolery is planning on deleting A/C/heating element and soft top... These along with the spare tire can help reducing the weight around 100 lbs.

10lbs is a lot once you remove things like PS, AC, and the soft top. You can also add lightweight race seats on fixed mounts (stockers are 30lbs, but I can't remember if it's with or without sliders). Once you get past the big things (20-40lbs), you'll be fighting for every ounce and pound you can get. In that case, 10lbs is HUGE!

I've taken out everything in my interior (soft top, carpet, but added roll car) except for the driver-side carpet and center armrest console. I plan on taking it all out this weekend at Tech Day.

For the record, my car is 2310lbs cross-weighted within 6lbs, that's with my 180lb ass in it and with the hardtop on.

Still have the heavy A/C and its components to take out plus misc items that will be removed this weekend.

I've removed most of everything to be still road legal, but gone is the airbag stuff, heater core, a/c, interior under padding, center console, any misc metal removable panels, passenger seat, and some other small things. I also removed the pump for the a/c, tow hooks and the bumper supports.

Not taking a cheap shot at you, but if you want to lose 10 lbs more of interior space, hit the gym. Not only do you feel beter, but you're getting healthier.

Nothing better then a good weight reduction. Loose body fat. People laugh at my skinny ass for being 125. Little do they know...
