I have saved some cash to get me nearer to getting some IRTB' son my car but have the following dilema :

A. do I buy the R.S.Aizawa manifold and fuel rail and hook up th eset of AE101's I have in my workshop but wait for a few months more as I will not have enough spare cash for an ECU ?

B. buy the Freedom ( E&E ) full kit from Japan for slightly more than the R.S.Aizawa hardware but will have one of the ( arguably ) best programmable ECU's for the AE101 setup on my NA6CE ? .... downside is that this looks a bit more cobbled together as most of the AE101 unit is retained including the fuel rail and is adapded to fit via the freedom manifold, this kit does however come with all electrics sensond brackets etc and the ECU can be factory programmed to the setup of your choice which will give a fighting chance of having it running out of the box ( well kinda ! )

C. be lazy and get the Fuji Racing kit and settle for the subcon piggyback ecu until funds permit a full after market ECU in the future ?

cost are :

a. R S Aizawa manifold / fuel rail - £650
b. Freedom AE101 kit ( minus AE101s and air horns ) - £850
c. Fuji Racing kit - £1000

my car is NA6CE with Maruha lighweight flywheel, FGK header, head will be polished/ported and will have hot cams fitted soon ...

... any thoughts ?

Hmmm - how about A - as long as you can source your own ECU - and if you wat get the Freedom. That way, you can still research the ECU thing a bit more - I have never worked on the E&E ECU, but it is in Japanese and I have heard that there may be some engrish conversion on the horizon.

Maybe you can email the guys at E&E and try to ask them some more questions.

B is also a good choice and so is C =D>

Now that I have given you no direction....

Peter I have been thinking about it and I think I will just fork out for the R S A hardware and save up for the Freedom ECU in time for next spring ...

I emailed the guys at E&E a while ago and they said that they only made their products for the Japanese market and would not sell to me so I may have to get a friend in Japan to help me out !

the RSA kit looks much prettier and will probably only work out a couple of hundred bucks more as I will be using the AE101 throttles that I already have, besides I would feel a fraud with my windscreen banner if I didn't have any of their kit on my car :?

thats what im doing, im getting AEM EMS in a week.

the car runs good with the sub con piggyback, but will run better with a stand alone.
(but im running a 1.8 motor in a 1.6 car and ecu)

jimmy @ fujiracing is a great guy and if you need anything he is a phone call away. and it would be easier to get help or parts if you ever need it.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I think the c. choice may be best for a nearly stock 1.6.

I believe Fuji chokes the TB's down to 38mm for the 1.6's. I don't remember what diameter the AE101 TB's are, but that 5 valve engine is rated at 165hp or more- quite a bit more than our 1.6. So my guess is it may be a bit too big.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I think the AE101's are 40mm dia and the AE11 are 43mm ( I could be wrong of course ! )

to be honest I REALLY like the Japanese stuff and the Jenvey kit is pretty standard mod for the Peugot and Ford boy racers ( kit cars too ) they may well be equally well performing as R S Aizawa or AE101's but they just seem a bit agricultural and less refined design wise ...

I am basically looking at the £1000 ( $1750 ) ball park for whatever option I go for which is quite a bit cheaper that a new complete set of R S A IRTB's + HKD F-CON ECU ... however if anyone knows of a used set up for grabs let me know

Not to threadjack, but I'd like to have a look at your setup next time I'm up north (I'm originally from Canton, about 40min south of you) :)

Damn it, Peter! The recent Nisei car show had me on the mat, but those pics were the last straw!

I'm selling my FM turbo kit and coming over to the dark side.

I mean, what could be more JDM?

In CA, that makes the converts...

1-Peter/CE28N
2-Linh/Sonique128
3-Bill/Bill Wilner
4-?

Now, we just have to get together and find a local tuner.

Peter's pics are just str8 porn!!!!!!

One thing I would consider though is the availability of air funnels/bellmouths/air horn for the AE101 setups. The Fuji/OER setup uses the more universal Weber DCOE type bolt pattern for the air horn, whereas the AE101 needs its own air horns.

The fact that you can change out the venturis to change the diameter is another plus for the OER. You can also put Weber DCOE airfilters on the OER. Lots of people make air filters for the DCOE's (K&N for example).
