I'm surprised these haven't surfaced before. Appear to be straight Thai-made copies of Watanabes, with a slightly cruder Watanabe logo

It seems in Thailand, anything that looks like a Watanabe is a Watanabe:

But one of these looks exactly like a Wat, but the other has crude logos.

WATA copy by K.speed alloy factory, Thailand.

The 4 / 100 and 4/114.3 7 inch wide rim 15, the only off 35.

3000/pcs.

There are 5 colors, the shadows Gun Metallic / White edge of the shadow / silver / gold / red spectral edge.
I don't know if something is being lost in translation, and that the actual Watanabe logos are really all over the place, or this is the most brazen copy yet.

The K-Speed logos almost looks like the R-Speed logo too! Talk about mega copy cats! :fab:

Some other variations:

No cast markings, but instead a Watanabe sticker on the rim. Very poor.

Another of the improved fakes:

Is this a fake Magnesium-alloy Wat?:

Am I the only one noticing the scary part of this picture?
Well, its either a very rough casting, or someone has refurbed a damaged Watanabe (just as bad).

Given that the makers marks are faked, no one can trust the JIC/VIA marks. I was reading that apparently Rotas are cast oversized, and then machined down, because they have difficulties in casting without occlusions.

Who knows about the offsets; whats 2mm between friends.....

On the other hand, these wheels are sold by the bucket load on minicabs rumbling around the streets of K-L, Phuket and Jakarta, without loads of Asian cabbies being killed because of broken wheels.

Google velg replika

A shop full of fakes, and who knows, fake fakes.
