Almost 2 years after its initial release in Japan, This fantastic game has finally made its way to the US under the title "Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2" and is being released on the PS2 for the bargain price of $15. (Fully translated to english now)

Im buying it again, because I cant read half the menus in the original game, here are some of the features...

-18 different mountain courses, each one a few miles long and twisty as hell. (click for map of courses)
-Day and night time races and battles.
-Rally racing (gravel)
-Many different race types to challenge your speed or drifting skills, or both.
-10 Gymkhana layouts where you can battle for time or "drift points"
-Snowy and/or rainy weather.
-Over 180 true-to-life cars from 16 manufacturers.
-Cars are fully upgradeable and tunable to suit your driving style.
-REALLY long story mode for the game.

here is the opening video from the japanese version of the game:

As you can see the aero kit available for the NA is the MAZDASPEED.
The kit for the NB coupe is the one that makes it look like a Dodge Viper (RE Amemiya?).
I am not sure what the kit for the NB vert is, Looks like a chargespeed kit.

All of the in game aero is based on real life kits. Only 1 kit per car available unfortunately, but the rest of the game more than makes up for that.

Local stores seem to have little to no knowledge of the game, pick it up off amazon if you cant find it locally.

I agree. I got the first one just to have all 3...and it sucked. This one is alot better than the 1st, on par with TXR3 I would say.

I really don't have the extra money to blow, but damnit this looks fun...I might have to run out to wal-mart tonight and pick it up.

I've gotten bored with GT4 (I've pretty much pwninated the game) and this looks like it should hold my interest for a while.

Does any one know how the game compares to Tokyo Extreme Racer 3?

similar physics, but instead of highway races, you race on the touge. night time races you battle rivals just like TXR3, daytime races you do for money basically. The games were made by the same company, Genki/Genki Racing Project.

You dont have to worry about oil and water temp though, but you do have to pay attention to how hot your brakes are getting, and how worn your tires are getting

I just bought it. Anybody having issues with kickback? Seems like whenever I countersteer, the tail end whips around in the opposite direction. Kinda frustrating... The parts customization is kinda weird, too.

yeah, the physics are a little silly when you first start playing. Are you using a steering wheel or controller? GT4 definately had an issue with the snap oversteer, although I dont find it to be nearly as much an issue in Kaido Battle its still there.

While GT4 rewards you for being gentle with your inputs, Kaido Battle seems to work better if you stomp on the gas and countersteer.
