My wife and I are looking into buying a speed 6 we drove the other day. We loved the car and everything seems great. Its a GT package car, black with black and white leather every option but navi. Its been dealer serviced since it was bought new one owner and sitting on a mazda lot with 43,000 miles on it. I was told it had the turbo replaced and was inspected when traded to them. It does have a intake and exhaust on it and also the aftermarket motor mount everyone complains about. Is there really anything i should look for on this car or are they for the most part a good car?
thanks

i have been told the oil problem is due to people using the wrong oil and then the turbo seals let go causing the oil burn.
then be sure to look for evidence of leaky turbo seals
I've got a friend who has one just like the one you describe
gorgeous car, and has zero problems with it

it is.
i had an ms3 and know enough about the similarities between the ms3 and ms6 to understand a few things.
replacing the rmm is ok - if you can't deal with the added vibes, then you can use the oem mount...but i wouldn't. i'd man up and deal with the aftermarket rmm.

if you plan on launching the car at all...either in traffic or drag, i'd recommend also swapping the diff mount in the rear as well. they break.

an intake is one of the best upgrades that you can do in terms of horsepower.
exhaust is mainly for sound.
if you want to change anything else in the exhaust, you can opt for a downpipe and midpipe.
front mounts are available, but crude in design for the ms6. good luck.

not a lot of parts are available specifically to the ms6, but some parts are interchangeable between ms3 and ms6.

check the link in my sig and register on that site if you want to ask specific questions. there are ms3 and ms6 owners, current and former, present on that site.

sts is great on that car.
twm made one for the ms3, idk if they made one for the ms6.
knowing all of the aftermarket shifter parts for the ms3, i'd stick with twm in a heartbeat. not their knobs (cause they're overpriced) but the shifter is great. idk if they made one for the ms6.

what dp you looking at?
dp/mp is 2 pieces on ms3, but 3 pieces on ms6. good luck

First off is it an 06 or an 07? The 07's had a tsb for the clutch, so check to see if they got that taken care of.

There is also a tsb I just got in the mail which warranties excess smoke coming out of the tailpipe from that notorious oil leak. But they are covering up to 70k miles, and will either replace the seals or the whole turbocharger.

I own a speed 6 and I swear I will probably never get rid of it. It's semi rare, looks good, got more than enough power, and the awd kicks ass. I live in minnesota and the ms6 carves through snow better than most trucks. I have owneed it for about 2 years now and the only problem i've had was a power steering leak (which I don't think is common). I put a SURE sri intake, turbosmart bpv, catback exhaust with dp, and SURE short shift plate with new shift bushings, and they give me more than enough go. But if I could afford to shell out 400 bucks for an AP I totally would. My girlfriend loves the car to. It feels safe and refined when you want it to, and like a sports car when you are feeling frisky. It's comfortable, easy to drive (minus the on/off switch clutch), and easy to maintain. For 43k miles I feel like you could get it for less than $17k I paid that for mine and it only had 29k miles on it. So I'd haggle em' down. Especially since it's alrady got mods on it. That's about all I can think to say about it. I say go for it!

it is a 06. i really like the cars alot so i think we may shop some. they said they paid almost 15 on the trade so they are as low as they can go
As a person who worked at a car dealership, that's what they all say lol. I doubt they paid 15 for it. I'd say "I'll give you 15,500 or I can go find another one" But thats just me. But I do encourage you to shop around. It took a couple months to find one. They sell like hot cakes around here. They hardly stay on the lot for a couple days usually.
