The Car:
I picked up a 94 Miata M Edition 1.8L, Montego Blue with the Nardi wood grain shift knob and e-brake handle, aluminum sill plates, Torsen LSD and all the other M edition features...
With a clean title
For $400
The catch was...the genius before me welded the timing belt cog onto the crankshaft.
So it was decided to begin a project/build on a completely new engine.
PICTUREESS!!

Ok its time to catch up...
I've aquired the block shell and crankshaft.

Took them both to G&G Performance Engines just outside Tomball,TX to hot tank both of them and also have the crank polished.
I also decided to have the cylinders bored .40 over to 84 mm
Heres the block after the hot tank and .40 over bore:

Alright so about 2 months ago the engine build has come to a TEMPORARY stop due to starting a new job, However I went to the machine shop to pick up my block shell and crankshaft. After I arrived he informed he he also decked the block .005"
NOW....I didnt come to a complete halt on everything. While I was waiting for the right time to aquire the bottom end assembly, It was time to start the wire tuck

Love the build man, I'm thinking about rebuilding my motor. Is it a pain in the ass?

rebuilding a stock engine...not so tedious...

now going to forged internals, cylinder boring, excess machine work, understanding clearances, etc...it can be somewhat of a chore if its your first rodeo lol

Here's a picture before the coating process:
