Sounds like it, the ground is ESSENTIAL. Where ever you are trying to use as a ground make sure it is bare metal, paint can/will prevent it from grounding properly.

I have tried 6 different grounds from the trunk to the hood area no fucking luck. Any other thoughts?

Let me make sure i'm on the same page with the following statements:

1) Your stock lights still work as designed. Brake/running/turn signal/reverse
2) The Porter lights work if you power each individual section power/ground to battery

Are both these statements correct?

If so, then you're hooking something up wrong. No way around it.
