It's kind of hard to describe yourself as 'new' at 61 years old.

I have a '91 BRG Miata, automatic with 115,000 original miles. It was my daughter's car until she got t-boned by a Ram pickup truck. I had it rebuilt and repainted and now am ready to make some minor mods.

I'm in the Lexington area. The car is garaged in Laurel County. I'll get some pictures posted soon. It is bone stock.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm in Paducah, I'm a bit far away, but, I wouldn't mind coming out for a Kentucky meet sometime ;P

Welcome to Club Roadster!

First mod should totally be manual swap :p

I was in Richmond at one autocross event last summer and met some of you guys at the restaurant in downtown Lexington for dinner. I haven't signed up with SCCA yet, but plan to shortly.

I'm not sure why I would want to change out for a manual. If I want to shift I'll just get on the BMW 1150RT and go for a ride. The automatic is perfectly fine for me. I don't feel like I have to impress anyone.

if you plan to take it to a few autocross you may want a manual, as the auto does not take a beating very well. i cracked my old auto at a 147k and had it rebuilt and never got my final gear back. ended up swapping it for a manual best mode i ever did.

I'm not into changing to a manual nor autocrossing the car.

Welcome to CR! I will concur with everyone you should check out an autocross. And while manual is great (I rock a manual), automatic doesn't necessarily mean you'll be outclassed. A guy at the Salina, KS autocross event I went to last October was driving an automatic NB and, well, wiped the floor with me and quite a few other people. It was my first time out and he was a veteran, but still lol
