"As seen at our display at the Miatas at Laguna Seca 2012 event!"

One of the newest products to come into the MossMiata warehouse are these Oil-Air Separators by Moroso. Available in Raw Aluminum for a machined look or Anodized Black for a more "stealth" look, the engineering and build quality is the awesome quality we've come to expect from Moroso. We were impressed by how easily the catch can unscrews (for emptying) AND how well-designed the stainless steel "wool" filter that fills the lid of the can is. This kit includes everything you need to install on your 90-97 w/o ABS. (We're working closely with Moroso to expand this kit for NB and ABS cars!)

These aren't just for racers: by catching the oil and moisture in the PCV system you're helping remove it from going back into the intake manifold, as the system is designed. You'll keep your intake and valves cleaner which means a better running engine. Kits include the separator catch can, a billet aluminum mounting clamp, inlet and outlet fittings, mounting bracket and screws, and rubber hose.

Retail price is $149.95, we've got these in stock in our CA warehouse ready to ship to you! If you have any questions please shoot me a PM or email me.

Moroso makes great products. What is the reason behind it being for non-abs cars? Is it purely based on the mounting location they suggest?

It will. Catch can's are effective and useful. The reason they don't generally come in cars is because you either have to 1. Vent to atmosphere - would not pass pollution standars or 2. Have sealed and empty can manually (better for environment, but not something any ordinary "driver" is going to do).

I'll keep an eye on this thread to hear about the ABS question :]

It looks like it comes with a mounting collar and bracket of some sorts. Is that a specific mounting solution (i.e. for a specific location in the engine bay) or a more universal fit?

Or, alternatively, do you have any pictures of the kit mounted in the recommended location?

It is location specific (or else it wouldn't be non-abs). Realistically you can mount it anywhere where it is about level with the valve cover. My guess is they want you to put it where the ABS unit goes, but I am sure I could figure out plenty of other places to put it, even on the drivers side.

More likely than not I am going to weld a fitting on the opposite side of the cover as it is much more open on that side once you get rid of the factory intake box/arm. That's a good option for those who have ABS and want to run one of these. A 5 dollar aluminum weld on fitting and you're in business.

Hey guys,

Yes the catch can is "universal" but this included mounting kit (specifically the hose) is designed to be mounted where the ABS unit is. For pictures of that, go to one of our product webpages (links above) and then click the red Instructions link. The instructions set has great pics.

Moss is working with Moroso to expand the kit offering for other mounting points and in other Miatas as well. For now, you could purchase this kit and use what you can and fab up the rest, if you know of a different mounting point that would work for you.

Thanks for the questions and interest!

Chris
