I thought Metro Motorsports had 1 or 2 in stock?
not according to their website ... :?
There is a picture on there site in the photobook at the bottom of the home page :D :D
Unfortunately for retro, the photo is 3 years old...
I don't know either, but that piece looks really nice and clean.

An alternative might be to get just the center section of the Simpson and if you want to go to the extra effort, modify the corners to round off more:

I got the Simpson and am making my own longer fender side pieces like an Elise:

I am not too keen on the simpson item ... I will get one of my Japanese friends to try and give them a ring or email - I just think it would look really good with the wide tuckin99 flares I have on order and add to the retro flavour of my car

Re: NOPRO deck lid spoiler ?

Don't get me wrong: if I were doing the one-piece spoiler (no overhang beyond the edges of the trunk lid) the NoPro would be my first choice too.

I've asked my JDM resources for help determining if it's still available or not.

APR now has a mold for a 1 piece carbon trunklid with a built in duck bill like that. Its a nice piece, and wieghs about 4 lbs...

How much do they want, $2000?

My .02 cents for Nopro..

Murakami M2-1028 Trunk lid

I would go for the Murakami item which I think is the best lid ... but over here in the UK we need a rear for light fo rres and I have to use the standard high level rear brake light in the trunk lid to accomodate this, when I get my zoom rear lights hitched up I will have to put the seperate reverse light in the stock bumper exhaust exit hole as I am getting a center exit exhaust .... man, it's never simple !!!
don't know if this idea sounds too ricey for you Retro, but if you really wanted that trunk lid, maybe you can get away with it by purchasing a universal LED type 3rd brade light, slightly cut out a portion of the seamline indentation on your rear bumper, and custom mount the above mentioned light behind the bumper. it would work fine, and even though the space used is rather small, since you would be using an LED light unit, the light output would be greater than your stock 3rd brake light. also, the light and cutout in the bumper for the light wouldn't be too obvious unless pointed out, in my opinion.

I could do something like that but I would have to take some bravery pills before cutting ap a new Murakami lid  !!!

I may get one and do something custom to the rear number plate panel instead
retro, i think you misunderstood what i was trying to say. i don't want you to cut up the trunk lid, that would be crazy, although it sounds like something i would do, lol. on the bumper, and all around the car on the NAs, the car has a seemline in it. if you were to take and cut open part of the seemline in the center of the rear bumper, you could mount an LED light unit from behind the bumper. make the cut in the seemline so that only the recessed part of the line is missing. yes the openning will be small, but remember that LED lights are far brighter than standard lights so that should make up for the size.

then you would have a 3rd brake light, it would just be mounted recessed in your rear bumper.

if you still don't know what i'm trying to say, let me know and i'll try to do something with a picture or drawing to explain.

Michael, I feel you on the Nopro spoiler. That was my favorite for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get one. I know that Deck Mechanical Power offer one similar but I prefer the Nopro since it has the perfect amount of roundness and kick up. I will look back through old HyperRev and Road&Ster magazines but I seem to recall a couple different spoilers like the Nopro that all had subtle differences like whether or not they included a cut out for the center high mounted stop lamp and they all had slightly different profiles.

Can anyone identify this spoiler?

This boot lid from Barchetta also looks nice. It is similar to the Murakami but its profile is more sharp (projecting rearward) and it's not as high.

its not that bad. I believe the APR lid is either 600 or 700 bucks.
Is it legal to have a trunk lid on a miata w/o the third brake light??
I like the Murakami M2-1028 Trunk lid.
Anyone know where I could get one in the U.S.A.?
All passenger cars sold in the US after 1987 (I think?) were required to have a CHMSL. Most states have laws that refer back to the federal regs and most states specifically prohibit removal or modification of required equipment. So I would say that it is likely that your car is required to have one to be operated legally on the road where you live. Whether or not anyone chooses to enforce this is a different matter.
