Like the mounting...

... i'll keep my trap shut on the rest. ;)
i feel dirty for liking that.. i really want a NB nopro widebody with big spoiler
Guys, try to distinguish parts made for FUNCTION over form... I don't think they gave a rat's ass whether or not it looked good...

NB owners, is there a lot of meat where it mounts?
I am so torn...

You might have a point. :)
if I had an NB , I'd have one of those ... 8)
thats pretty sick.

function > form
thats fucking wicked.

i still don't get how some people don't think funcional parts look good. personally, i think lip spoilers look pretty bad, mostly because the aerodynamic effects (especially w/ the top down) are minimal.

big wing crew sign in!

So why do you this a front lip / airdamn does less with the top down?

The only functional issue that wing has is that it is too far back. When it adds downforce to the rear wheels, it works as a fulcrum actually removing wieght on the front tires...
i didn't mean front lip spoilers. i meant trunk lid lip spoilers. i know that balance is key, because of the fulcrum effect you described.

i just said "with the top down" because that will create a lot of turbulant air for a wing to cut through, which isn't as effective as clean air.
speaking of function... you'd have to cut everything you put into your trunk into thirds. like.. the spare.
Fun :)
don't think you'd be running a spare with that wing...

But that's besides the point. Why do you think your trunk would be divided into 3rds? that wing mounts outside the body...
wing mounts outside the body... right behind the trunk access...

i could imagine taking a spare to a track day "just in case"

i could imagine if you had a wing like that, you'd either bolt it on at the track, or your miata would be on a trailer with your racing wheels/tires/spare parts.
I'm not fan of Big Ass Ugly Wings, but if they work, they work. A secondardy benefit of this design is that it looks to be totally removable when you're off the track. To me the primary benefit of this design is not potentially crushing your trunklid or having to worry about reinforcing it.

The only drawback I see in the mounting location is what Greg asked if it is sturdy enough to not get ripped out with 100lbs+ of downforce. I've never looked too closely in that area.
