I would have to agree. I had my soft top warrantied at Crazy Reds. He does great work.
I had Crazy Red do two soft tops for me over the course of a couple years (and a couple of break-ins) He does great work and even helped me with my cam swap. Highly Recommended for the Sac crowd!!

Mr. Mazda in campbell is great. He knows these cars like the back of his hand and he almost always has FDs in his lot that you can go ogle to your hearts content.

Anyone know of a place near the napa valley? For engine repair
Not sure how extensive your repair work is but the folks at TFB Performance are great guys.
Located at Sears Point.

They're not the cheapest, but things get done right (the first time).

They'll have more time on their books come May... kinda busy this month with all the races!

Motorsport technique does custom alignments. Had them do my alignments before my last track day at laguna seca which turned out great.

I really like Tech3 in S.E. San Jose. They specialize on Japanese and are mod friendly.
They can do most upgrades and also custom alignments.

My buddies at VL Motorsports in Livermore specialize in Miata's and Mazda's in general. They also have a rotory specialist. They are kind of the new kid's on the block in terms of being a business but I can't argue with their expertise and they've been cranking out a lot of good work lately. They have very competitive parts/labor pricing as well and have plenty of motorsports background. They also do tuning now that they have their hub dyno. Check em out if you're in the area!

I just had a really good experience on a stock 94 engine rebuild at MVM Engine and Mechanical in San Jose, off Monterey Highway. He said 2-3 weeks; did it in a week and a half. Good price, everyone at the shop is super duper nice. He's got a Miata race car; there were other Mazda engines in his shop being worked on, but he also does big V8s and Minis and whatever. Highly recommend!

My other recommendation for just general automotive repair, but with an emphasis on HVAC is Renson Automotive in Campbell. Also incredibly nice guys; not only have they done right by me on my Miata's AC, my (horrible, and thankfully sold) Ford Escape's AC, and recently my brother's Subaru AC, they have also absolutely nailed every other shop or resource they've ever recommended to me...either to get minor work done, or just ask questions and get info.
