1.6 motor I changed my oil recently to Mobil 1 10w30 and full synthetic Lucas. But in the morning/when the car is really cold the pressure is at 70 idle and it smokes for a minute or two, but when I get going it stops quickly. The pressure stays high at 90 or so when driving 3000rpm 70 at idle, but gradually goes down to a more acceptable 35-40 psi idle 65-70 at 3000rpm when it warms up completely. The car runs fine, no power loss or anything, no other problems. None of these things happened before I changed the oil, the pressure was always in the 30-60 range and it didn't smoke. Has anyone had this happen?

full synthetic lucas what? you're not using that lucas additive are you...

just for reference, my oil pressure is somewhere around 40 at operating temp and rises to 60 at redline.

I changed my oil to castrol gtx and my oil pressure actaually dropped down. In the mornings its about 70 and when its warm its at about 25 now.

Are you guys using the stock oil pressure "gauge" for your readings?

I thought they were ECU based mythical numbers , and the gauge basically only tells you if it has over 7 psi of oil pressure.

I have rotella synthetic and it does what you describe. 90PSI at 3k when not warm. When warmed up its normal. Doesn't matter to me since I wont boost until im fully warmed up.

I have a 90 so I guess I have the really oil pressure gauge
