OK I'm Convinced I'm going for Spormax ... which tires I should get?

why not add a flare and run a bigger tire which that wheel allows? 225/45/15s...

I have not mounted tires on my 15x8 +15 offset wheels yet, but event those need flares to fit a real tire. How low are you going to have the car?

Why not try Goodyear Eagle Sports Car Special G-19 Eagles in 23.0x8.0-15 or 23.0x9.0-15? Should be a little more sticky than Azenis if/when you finally get them up to temperature.

Hi Matt, I have stock springs and Chikara M2 mounts and I'm currently quite happy with these...so I'll probably not lower the car more. Currenlty is 3/4" lowered because of the different mounts and the pkg R ride height setting in the KONIs.

Still I wouldn't be super happy if the tires rub in every bump...I'm starting to realize that maybe even 195-50 is too much...right? :|

If I could get these fenders that the blue rotary miata had I wouldn't even think about it...but these were custom made

Why bother buy a 15x8 wheel if you're not going to use it as intended: to run a wider tire. You're talking about 185 and 195 for your 15x8, I'm dismayed that there's not much out there wider than the 205 I just bought for my stock 14x6.5 :?

well, its less an issue of tire and more an issue with wheel. With those soft springs you have, under hard compression, I am willing to bet the edge of your wheel goes up into the wheel arch. Regardless of the tires size, unless the wheel itself will clear the fender, I think you are asking for problems. Many of the other guys that kind of get away with it have really stiff springs which keep the wheel from compressing so far.

Unless you actually pull the fender, (not just roll it) I'm not sure how you could get it to work and still have a suspension that functions properly. (Not to mention the fact that the stock springs and Koni dampers don't have enough damping power to handle the extra unsprung wieght.)

Not trying to discourage you, just making sure you are going into it eyes wide open. You've got a great looking car, and I think this will set it off. But it would stink if it didn't actually "work" as well as it looked...

I'm really afraid that you are right...
Does anyone has experience on how difficult is to pull the fenders?I really like that look :roll: but I also like my car to be drivable...

The weight doesn't really concern me since these wheels are only 14lbs...so it shouldn't be that bad (of course it would be more than 12lbs and further out)...

pulling fenders almost always requires repainting them, fyi. If you are that dedicated, blended flares isn't much further away...

just to be clear, my arguement never had anything to do with style. I dig the look. and I'm not against wide offset wheels. Its the combo of his setup that I think is problematic.

Do you think it will rub?

I going for 195 tires...
The question now, is whether it would be 45 or 50?

50's, I know it will be much more, livible. Also if your going to keep the car high, don't bother with a 45. Only reason I went with a 45 is to tuck the tire with the car as low as I wanted it. Well, as low as reason will allow me to go. :roll:

OK so I'm going for 50s
and one more question.
If you had the same set up but with stock springs do you think the rim would hit the fender in full compression or the top of the rim will manage to go inside the fender?
(All these with the rolled fenders that you have)

this is not true, I have seen many pulled fenders without paint problems including my car
You have to use a torch and fender roller and keep the fenders hot and take your time with it. This will cause the paint to stretch and not crack. If you go for a extreme pull (cant do this on a miata anyway) like 20mm then you start running into discoloration issues

i run 215/45/15's no problems. then again i have rolled fenders, but not very extensive.
