so previously on shawns car:
howling noise coming from rear. pulled diff, got it inspected, backlash was too tight, got it re-adjusted, threw diff back on, axles seals were leaking, pulled axles, replaced them...... all come to find out the noise is the exhaust vibrating on undercarriage. >
NOW: driving to chuckecheeses for gf's family and i pull up to an intersection..... there is a beat up grand prix next to me..... i smell a weird smell and look over thinking it was the grand prix, wind was blowing smoke out from under my car.....smelt like bad clutches....... yes, i do know the difference in smell between gear oil and clutch...... that's how i knew the axle seals were leaking..... anyways, so i pull over ASAP. has not started howling, has not started groaning, has not locked up, has not blown any bearings...... could this just be telling me, "hey, check your fluid level jackass, i'm getting hot!" ? or is the diff completely goin out?
