Used David's (Mr. Woolery) Ariel Atom for a class project.

Here are some pics my friend Vince took.

-Ecotech 2.0L supercharged
-Factory Tuned 300hp
-Tubular steel frame/carbon fiber body.
-1100lbs curb weight
-Koni coilovers with H & R springs
-0-60 2.9sec (number taken from top gear with Ariel Atom with k20 s/c 245hp)
-Pulls almost 2g's cornering
-4 pot Alcon brakes all around & seperate caliper for parking brake.

I believe that is an oil accumulator on the right.. supplys oil to the motor at all times acceleration/cornering.

Missing rear body pieces to show you the engine bay.

me sitting in the Atom.

enjoy the pics.

thanks for letting me use your car for my class project David.

It still needs more body panels ;)
Three words for you, Mr. Woolery:

I.

HATE.

YOU.

That is all, proceed.
No need to hate. David's a pretty nice guy...how many guys (besides Peter) would let a guy do this:

and still give them a ride in said prized Atom?

It's just principle

Besides, I fully intend on owning one myself in the future. Why blow $50k on a BMW? AC be damned!!
I'm interested to know what the class project consisted of for the use of the Atom. :)

oh just did a 10 minute presentation on the Ariel Atom..

guidelines were vague.. anything new in automotive technology.

They should...

ah WTF? Now I might have to reconsider :?

Why'd they drop the k20?

I think more body panels kinda would defeat the point and purpose that the atom is built on.

want body panels? get a Westfield I bet they are hella fast too.
The UK Atom's motor was sourced from a civic type R. They offered a few to the US market, and was a little more expensive than the ecotec. Not really sure why they didn't keep the honda motor in there, maybe it had to do with emissions or cost?
Did you have a go?
Limited availability of the k20 from Honda is why they went with the ecotec. Honda simply doesn't offer that version of the k20 for sale in the US so they have to import them and they can only get a few every year. I think they had 20 or so of them this year which all went fast.

ya i believe that is what David told me.

 perhaps. It was my only complaint about the thing.
[schild=6 fontcolor=000000 shadowcolor=C0C0C0 shieldshadow=1]I'm crying on the inside[/schild]

wow. if only it was CA-legal...... I think I'd sell my spleen, possibly my pancreas, and most likely a testicle for one.

musn't.... think..... of adding..... a turbo......

too late.

if I had the money, and the time, I'd think about adding maybe some carbon body panels. especially along the sides, cuz that air can't be traveling smoothly.

and at least a rollbar, too.

It's a very beautiful car but I like it even more with the extra wings...it looks like an F1 replica =D>

I don't know...I just don't like the thought of always being on watch for stray pebbles to come through the "body" and whack me. Besides, the Seven/Westfield are two totally different layouts, and therefore totally different in manners. I've always been in the minority on that belief, so...whatever.
i had a visit with david two weeks ago while in ca for an interview.. he took my wife for a spin in it. the motor is supercharged and you can hear it, but not at idle.

see you in irvine after next week!
