This is the place to do it. I am NOT creating this thread to keep everything that could be possibly related to politics by three degrees of separation out of Random Thoughts, but as a place to get in depth.

This is where you post about things if you want to get farther than "Oh man isn't this weird/funny/stupid/obnoxious/smart?"

This is NOT a place where personal attacks will be tolerated.
There will be a 1 week MINIMUM ban enacted upon anyone who breaks that rule, no warnings will be issued. You're all adults, or close enough to them that you can treat each other with respect. Just because Jimbob doesn't agree with your views doesn't mean he's a big fat meanyhead.

Pretty simple: Don't be an asshole.

I will flesh out more rules if necessary, but i'd love for this to be self-policing.

With that, ENJOY!

Thanks, Concealer. I can certainly abide by being decent. I will also not feed a troll if someone wants to destroy decent discussion, I hope everyone else feels the same way.

Oh my, this is wonderful.

The end is near. However, Donald won't be president. Jeb will.

It doesn't really matter who is president though. It's not like they actually do anything other than read from a prompt. Another face people can relate to or hate. It's a pendulum. There is no Republican or Democrat. Just another puppet for the machine.

I still maintain that if they wanted John to be president, they should have trotted him out instead of George W. The Bush fleet has sailed, and their dynasty card has been pulled.

However, I do think that the president is more than a talking head. Its just that this one has been so much more of a talking head than anything else, that really highlights it. But youre right, though. Increasingly, Republican and Democrat are two sides of the same coin. Why do you think they go OUT OF THEIR WAY to discredit, demean and outright destroy anyone on the horizon who is third party? Because it stands as a serious disruption to the status quo.

What Americans dont really realise, and you can gather this just by talking to people, is that we really do hold the power. What I mean here is, when you talk to people and they say that they didnt vote, but if they had it wouldnt have counted anyhow. Which is bullshit. But so many people have bought into the party line, hook line and sinker, that they cant open their eyes to see whats really going on. And so it really doesnt count.

We have to stop fighting each other. We have to all get behind a candidate and really show the "base" of each party that we DONT agree with the **** they spew, or the lies and balderdash they use to keep us divided. Whether its gay marriage, abortion, the failed drug war or whatever else they come up with this week to keep our focus away from what they are really doing.

It's this exactly. My gf is a shining example. her parent's "raised" her republican. She votes republican. When asked to name a republican policy that she likes, she's stumped.

When it comes to our rights and how much of them we're at risk of losing, I feel we're the last generation that is really going to care. We're the last that will remember what it was like before the Patriot Act, the last to know what it was like before Homeland Security. Our kids will think checkpoints, eavesdropping, search and seizure without warrants, etc are normal operating procedure.

If we're going to do anything that's going to change the direction our country is headed, it had better happen soon.

I agree with the third party thing, people are intent at firing off at the other party and towing the party lines they forget we can vote for whomever we want.

I have been registered as "No Party Affiliation" since I was about 22.

#25 ·
I voted Democrat when I was younger, I end up voting 3rd party now. I have my own special blend of liberal and conservative that no one fits my mold, especially the big parties.

#15 ·
I have my eyes set on Rand Paul and Donald Trump. Everyone attacks trump too much just because he had a TV show and he speaks his mind.

#16 ·
I am still keeping tabs on Bernie Sanders. So far I like what I see and I am interested to see how far he makes it. I in no way support Donald Trump, but I do hope that when he doesn't become the representative of his party he runs on his independent campaign and we can start to make progress against the 2 party system. That is a system that has long since needed a re do.

#23 ·
Honestly, this is the first that I have heard that about him. Who did he allegedly rape?

#29 ·
So I was thinking about which front runner I would most likely support at this point. So I was taking a look at some of the GOP, because between Sanders and Clinton, I'll abstain.

I thought it might be Ben Carson but after looking through his website I don't like enough of his positions to be discouraged.

Maybe Kasich? But his website sucks and there is nothing about his issue positions.

#31 ·
Ew, Kasich's .edu stuff is ugly from my standpoint.

A peasant asked Benjamin Franklin what kind of Government they had given us. He replied that they had given us a Republic. If we can keep it. We have not.

I'm 42. I cannot emphasize this enough. Read the historical documents instead of listening to sound bites. Vote for the person that is going to best uphold the law. The laws written for that position.

I don't vote. Because the law has been modified/manipulated to use the voter registration pool for jury duty. I'm not registered to vote because it is unconstitutional to use that right to force me to hear and see the details of a 10 year old girl that was raped and murdered on some jury.

The Country was actually founded on sound principles. I'm one of the few that will take some pain and inconvenience to make it align with the design. Most aren't.

It's a constant evolving entitlement mentality. Take JFK's famous quote. Now reverse it. Now look in the mirror. Are you really looking at someone that is asking what the Government can do for you?

For shame. For utter shame. Your family tree was supposed to be thrown overboard on the journey here.

#35 ·
Oh. Every time someone says "democracy" you should cringe. We are supposed to be a Republic.

I would vote for Trump twice if I could. He's the only one that is going to be handed the President Files and utter "what the absolute ****" in the Oval Office. Takes a big ocean to turn a big ship. Our votes have fucked our grandkids so bad, I cannot even...

Give me the guy that runs the Country like a business. Closer to the Constitution than anyone else.

If you thought Obama's speech on the Iran deal was compelling, please stop voting.

#43 ·
Trump, the same guy that has manipulated stupid financial laws in the past?

A government should never be run like a business. A government exists to provide services that shouldn't be profitable, you know like schools, correctional system, welfare, healthcare and other key projects. It should protect its citizens, and not in a post-9/11, post-patriot act type of way.

Is the US government in 2015 run as it should be? Nope.

Would the US government as dreamt up by the founding founders work in today's world? Nope.

I'm also 100% for voters to be added to the jury pool, so long as they understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty.

I can help! You see Stalin. And you have every right to move to a country run that way. I would politely disagree that Socialism is the answer. We have enough square pegs/round holes problems trying to be the democracy we were not intended to be.
Every person with Socialist leanings =! Stalin, to revert to McCarthyism so early in this thread is worrying.

Sanders doesn't even shy away from the fact he is a "democratic socialist." It says something that he's a major contender.

#44 ·
So let's all collectively do **** all nothing to fix it. Take the endless immoral pandering the Dem's pass out like the first free hit. Most of you love them. Most of you will lie and vote for them. Because you cannot pull the lever for them and tell your children you love them. You are lying to one or the other.

I will be a juror, despite the illegal implications, to vote for Trump.

Your "pro choice" party is auctioning off fetal organs. If you didn't see that coming, you didn't do the due research the Founding Father's nearly begged for. You just yanked the D Lever.

The R's are no better. They funded said auctions.

The best Government is a Benevolent Dictator. One person/entity/party that has total control and makes every decision for the greater good.

I'm not being sarcastic. That has been hypothesized, and hard to argue, the political utopia.

Now add a dash of ego and a splash of humanity and suddenly you are left with a dictator that isn't so benevolent.

The democrat's have spent millions and decades to make an argument for you. It's just instinct, at this point. Give us more power and control and we'll give you a free phone.

O'Tay!

Oh, sorry if manipulating how we kill babies made you uncomfortable. We'll stop talking but never stop selling off babies like car parts.

O'Tay!

Where's the lever?!?

I just want some changes to be made that would give statesmen some incentive to start a business in this country because right now there is zero.. (you're actually pretty much punished for having a business.) I'd have to think Trump could do that. I've never followed him before besides just knowing who he is.. but from hearing him talk recently, he doesn't even really seem that smart, but that might just be his lack of tact or likeability.. (not that we need those things in a president right now). But I think I'd vote for him based upon his track record and ability to produce a return on investment. He'd also be entertaining as all get out

The whole selling baby parts thing is weird to me.. why are people so mad about that when they also KILL BABIES. I think selling baby body parts is messed up but not quite as horrible as killing babies.

I just seriously want the smallest government possible. don't tell me I have to have health insurance. don't tell me how to educate my children. don't tell me how to run my business.. etc. have few laws protecting citizens' rights, punish people that break those laws, and protect the borders.. and no foreign wars

They're not selling baby parts and they aren't killing babies. A baby is the living, breathing human that comes out of a woman after the birthing process. What an abortion does is end a pregnancy. So no babies are being killed.

And no, no one is selling fetal organs or other parts. I'm sorry you've been lead to believe that, but you can do some research and find out that's propaganda and it's false. Falling victim to believing propaganda feels a bit icky to me, doesn't it to you?

No one "likes" abortions. But what most women do like is having freedoms to choose what is best for their families and their bodies. A small radical Christian group is funding all of this information as a means to their end to force their beliefs on the entire population of the free United States. If you are a radical Christian you are free to believe what you would like, but you have no right to control what every woman in this country does with her body.

And with that, I'll tap out.

Where did you ever get the idea that politicians aren't businessmen? Politics are a business and that is their career...they are in it for themselves and to make money. Sounds like a typical businessman if you ask me.

The country doesn't need to be run by businessmen because those people are all about maximizing profits and minimizing costs - for themselves. You know what that sounds like to me? Taking advantage of the citizens of this country to make more money for yourself........which is what politicians are already doing

#52 ·
I wouldnt be so quick on that one, though. Think of it this way, a businessman like Trump, or Romney even, already have their money. And boat loads of it, too. Since they already have theirs in the bank, they arent going to likely be swayed by what lobbyists and special interests can cobble together in such a fashion as most people who run for open office can be. Whats a couple million to them? A drop in a fuckin bucket at that point.
