If you're that worried about things getting into the engine just get some jubiride throttle nets. it'll keep the larger particles out, while still letting in way more air then a sock or filter. they should fit right behind the runners so the engine will still look clean.

It really isn't the large chuncks that are the issue. They rarely make it up that high on the motor. It is sand, dust, dirt that will destroy rings, eat the edges of valves, etc. If you rebuild after every few races no problem. If you want to run it on the street for a few years get a proper filter.
