Question about a 10AE

813 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Fritch
While i was browsing around used car dealers today, i spotted a 10AE and took a seat in it. They wouldnt let me drive it due to my age, but im really digging that suede seat.

I was just wondering, is it worth the extra cash to get a 10AE? or should i just find a regular 99?

Keep in mind that probably will be drifting/driving hard. I dont really know if i should pump out that extra dough for the car.

and input would be appreciated. :)

10AE is nice, but nothing really special. My honest opinion? Save the money you'd spend on a 10AE, buy a 1.8L NA Miata (94-97) and spend the rest of your money on suspension and tires :)
also keep in mind that all 10AE's have the stronger 6spd and all have torsen rears. They also have the sport suspension and the other good thing is when you go to start modifying these things, the stock parts are worth LOTS to collectors. I've sold all my stock stuff for more than I usually pay for my new stuff. No Joke.

Hold out for a 5-speed. When you're driftin' you don't wanna be shiftin'.
I wood get a 99 but then again I own a 99 which I kinda compare to the 90 to 93 M1's , the first yrs were the best for the M1 as were the first yrs of the M2's aka NA's and NB's .

The 10AE is a very nice car , to heavy for my taste but still a nice car , get a 99 low mileage and change the shocks and front sway bar do the intake and exhaust and you'll have a dman nice car , oh yeah get a red one they are the rarest of colours !

One thing tho the 99's the factory 15" wheels are +40 not +45 as like the ealier MX5's and I kinda dig the 10AE wheels too .

...Why?
they've been saying "ohh, its pretty! its special! i has the 6 speed! i think this car is better than the regular one. you probably wont have time to drift in college anyways. "
stuff like that.
sure its pretty and special. But that pretty and special crap is worth a lot of money to other people!!! I sold my 10AE wheels ($850), seats ($650), steering wheel ($350), and other stuff and you can always find a buyer for that junk...

No time to drift in college, law.

I never understood this. How is the 10AE really any heavier than any other 99 other than the base package cars?

if anything it might be 20-30lbs at most...
