ITT: Anything car-related that you would have previously used the regular RT thread to talk about e.g. craigslist finds, project cars, future vehicle purchases, bitching/moaning about your own car, etc.

You're welcome, Steve.

Here's my random automotive thought: I have been driving a stock 2004 Miata for 3 months. And I like it. Am I broken? I can't even decide what sorts of mods to do to it. It's as if my choices are so vast I can't possibly choose one direction. And so I left it stock. And I still like it.

Guys I had pizza for dinner. Or should that go in the other thread? I'm confused. I drove to get the pizza, does that count?

The M.Net is strong with you!

And, maybe it IS age related?
I'm about to de-rollbar, de-door bar, de-6UL my car.

And would de-spring it, if I had lower rate springs laying around.

I'm also looking forward to unlimited rear view visibility!
And less curb weight.

I wish I wasn't so ADHD with my cars. I can't even pick a direction for them and stay with it. Do I want a stripped out racecar? Do I want a comfy yet fun daily driver? Do I want an autocrosser? Do I just want something to tear up the streets? Show car? All of the above?

I was stripping out my Miata, then I got a hardtop and tossed all of my interior back in and fixed the A/C because suddenly I want a comfy Miata. I even keep finding myself wanting to put some sort of coilover sleeves and springs on my 4000lb Buick Riviera and drop that thing on its nuts just because 90s bubble cars look cool when they don't ride like trucks. But I also love my floaty soft cushy ride.

I have issues.

When I want a radio and a top and a plush ride and for people to look at me and think I'm successful, I take the M3.

When I want to feel every seam in the pavement, get sunburned and rained on, annoy people in lifted pickups, and feel like I'm 15, I pop in some earplugs and take the Miata.

It's all completely logical.

Yeah... and currently it's sort of checkbook related. But I have no drive to have a plan to mod it. I've got to say that after 10 years of driving a track-prepped Miata with only a hardtop permanently bolted on, this is a nice change. Yesterday I needed to drive through traffic to meet our landscaper (45 minutes there, 25 back) so I dropped the top, put my hair in a clip, and enjoyed the sunlight. Driving the NA used to be cathartic because I could go for a spirited run to blow off steam. Now I can chill out to blow off steam. It's been nice.

Hmm. I'm trying to find a radio for my Miata and I kind of like the aesthetic of the mid-2000s Pioneers, but it's a pain trying to find one that has:

A volume knob (instead of buttons)
Aux input
RCA out

And isn't one of the 2010-or-newer flashy glossy crap. I like the matte silver plastics of older car stereos.

I "inherited" a low mileage NB1. Don't like it. SWAG PACK'd it so I could turn around and sell it quick (it was in pretty bad shape when I acquired it) and pick up a NA/FC/SE3P. Now that I got it running right and cleaned it up a bit, I fell in love. Now I want to keep it, ditch the SWAG PACK and buy quality parts. But I still debate selling/trading for a NA/FC/SE3P.

I, as well, have issues.

I have a fucking MINIDISC head unit that is going to go in my car... some day.

Also, so glad I don't live on the east coast.
