Is there a 'proper' way to replace a rear main seal?
I'm doing a clutch job on my 93 1.6 and the rear seal is leaking good.

Some people say just pick it out and smash it it with a hammer.
is this the truth?

When you pick it out becareful not to scratch the sides as that will make it leak again. I wouldn't hammer it in maybe put a 2x4 on it and hammer it or a rubber mallet.

Well, getting the Valve Cover Gasket and CAS O-Ring shouldn't be difficult. I don't know what year you have, though (so finding the part number is a little difficult). As far as the metal plate on the CAS, I bet that it'll be impossible to get one without getting another CAS. That said, a used one shouldn't be that expensive.
