Hey all.

Have a few quick questions about the rubber weather strip under the bonnet.

It was causing me bonnet issues, not closing great and looked poo.

So, today i set about removing it and am wondering if its going to cause any problems? As in water getting into the bay?

This bit

Any info would be great!

I thought that too, but still tried it.

Believe me, it was stopping it from closing nicely.

Before. Used to rattle, and move about alot

After. Doesn't seem to move about anywhere near as much & lines up nicely

I understood it was there to block water from entering the engine bay... rain is probably not as great of a threat as it'd be smaller quantity and if moving, won't even have the ability to fall behind the hood..

However, giving her a bath may require sponge work from the top down to the fenders to avoid flushing water under the hood. If the engine is cold, shouldn't matter much regardless... but if engine is hot (and off), cold water could do some bad stuff to the hot block..
