I fitted a brand new set of coil overs a few weeks back, and its not sitting evenly. i have adjusted both sides to the bottom (on the back) but the driver's side sits about an inch higher. The car was on the ground when I tightened the anti roll bars, so it can't be pre-load on the bolts. the only thing i can think of is that when i first fitted them, I missed a washer off so i had to remove the top mount, but my gun wasn't fast enough so the damper pin just kept spinning. I tried a few times before I gave up and went to use an airline the next day. Could this of knackered a seal?
I can't tell if any oil has leaked because they were hard to adjust when I first got them, so I covered them in WD40 to make it easier.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

You might have screwed the pooch on this one unfortunately. Many shocks/coilovers come with a warning stating to not use air tools on the shock shaft.

I could be wrong though haha

yeah, you're not supposed to spin the shaft via impact gun because it can cause the upper guide seal to fail

I could be mistaken, but how would a bad seal change the ride height? I mean, it might now be blown and ride like crap, but that shouldn't effect ride height.

What coilovers are you using? 99% of the time people have ride height issues they are adjusting it wrong. Are your coils also body height adjustable? On a lot of coils you can adjust the actual length of the coil without touching the spring perches. Are you just tying to change your ride height by collars the springs are sitting on?

Need more information. Not all coilovers are the same. Would help if you took pictures of the coilover on each side of the car. It could be something we can identify visually you are missing.

arrrrrhhhhh your jokin !! i really hope i haven't, i was going to put it on the road next week . There are two collars which the springs sit on which move up and down , there is no thread on the damper body or anything like that but i will take a pic later after i finish work so you can have a look an see if anything looks abnormal .
can an anti roll bars or bushes affect ride height ? because on the second time i installed them i got abit lazy as i was in a rush an didn't bother to undo the anti-roll bar drop link , i just got a scissor jack and put it between the hub and the arch an just wound it down so i could slot coil straight in , silly thing to do really because it looked under alot of strain lol could this affect it ?

Congrats, you bought the least documented coilovers for our car. I can't find jack **** about them.

This megan document shows how to adjust a body adjustable coilover.

Basically the body of the shock is also threaded into the lower mount. This allows you to lengthen or shorten the shock without effecting preload on the spring. You do not have to move the collar the spring is resting on.

If that is not the case with your coilovers, something must physically be forcing your springs to lift the car higher. You could have assembled the tophats wrong, used different length springs, used different spring rates, put the wrong shock on the wrong side of the car (ie: front on back), or mixed something else up.

Then again, maybe you unthreaded something internally? Could be causing it to bind. I really have no idea other then improper adjustment or assembly.

Next time you buy something I recommend using a product with lots of other users to offer help with, your going to need to search long and hard to find any specific help with your setup. Perhaps ask whoever gave you the idea to buy them?

my Subaru was all kinds of off tilter... just set it so its even who gives a **** about what the coils are set at?

Yeah, who wants to have a car that handles consistently? Over rated. I hear having an inch less travel on only one side is awesome for handling. Think how great you could be at turning left!

This. You have to measure from hub to fender to get everything even. You can't go buy counting the number of threads left or anything like that.

i tried to take a picture of it today but my camera doesn't get enough detail in ,well not enough for anyone to spot any small faults anyway , i rang the company i bought them from today and they had the same opinion as CBJ , just told me to whack up the side that was lower lol which i will do for now but it just niggles me that something obviously isn't rite or more people would of had the same issue
i think i may have to give up on this one and take it to a garage
il post the answer when i get it looked at so this thread wasn't a complete was of time !
