At CFRC on July 3rd, we are having our 1st annual Roadster Shootout autocross event. The Shootout will be run in a similar way to how we run our monthly autocross events, but with a few changes.

We normally have a course that could be navigated by a wide range of cars, for this event, we will be tightening up the cones and adding in a few obstacles that are tailored to roadsters. We will also have two classes, modified roadster, stock roadster, in the past we never use classes; other cars that want to participate will be in another running group.

FAQ:
Where?
Central Florida Racing Complex, 10698 Cosmonaut Blvd. Orlando FL 32824

When?
July 3rd, 2010, from 9am to 2pm

What counts as a roadster?
Any 2-door RWD convertible.

What are the rules?
The full list of requirements are listed on this webpage: http://cfracingcomplex.com/autox

Can other, non-roadster cars participate?
Yes they can; they will be put into a separate running group.

How much will it be to participate?
$30 to drive, and $10 to spectate.

Are there helmet rentals?
Yes, we will have rentals on site, PM me to reserve one.

Let me know if you guys have any other questions, hope to see a great CR.net turnout!

Really wanna do this one... but I'm afraid somewhat of my transmission finally giving up. Are the tracks you make mostly run on 2nd gear for us?

I'll probably design it to where you'll hit the high-end of 2nd gear, it's going to be tight.

The June autocross is my "stretch goal" but I consider the July event a "must meet" goal. It will be my first event at CFRC and first handling event in over 2 years.

Sounds good man! Hope to see you come out to both events, I've got to do some work myself on my own car this weekend in order to get it ready by the 5th. Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, to clear up any confusion about my description,

The course is just going to be comprehensively tighter, rather than in the past where I've created courses that could be easily nagavated by any car, with any wheelbase.

For example, rather than having a wide wagon wheel, or a nice fast straight, there will be Chicago-boxes, chicanes, and tight 360 turns, that's what I meant about obstacles.

Any RWD 2 Door 2 Seater Convertible and that's stretching it. We can't have every tom, ****, and harry with a convertible Mustang calling it a roadster.
Mustangs are 2+2, so no, they wouldn't be a roadster, they're more than welcome to participate on that day, they will be just in a different class and running group.

I have just been notified that we are ordering a timing system tomorrow and it should be in before the Shootout, so no more finger delay excuses!
