Hello Everyone!

when I start my car, it has a very rough idle. I think it could be that the oil is low or could it be that it is an electrical problem. All lines and hoes are tightly on. Any recommendations?

Thanks and happy new years!

OK dude Thanks for the input! But i checked the oil and it had like no oil in it! I took it to Jiffylube and they said since I put conventional oil (no oil additives) in and drove it from nor cal to so cal and have been racing and drifting and driving it very hard, my engine burned up a lot of oil, to the point where it was just slug coming out. I could not believe it since the night before i just raced and beat a Scion TC. And i change the oil less than 3k miles ago. Anyway.....

They changed the oil with Penzo high milage 10w30 with additives (to keep the oil from breaking down and burning up), the car runs great! No more rough idle at start and F-ed up "ticking sound." I also changed the diff oil and trans oil and OMG what a difference it made! Hope this helps yall out! GOOOD luck and Happy 2012!

I have the same exact problem as well. Starts fine in the morning but after driving and letting is sit a couple of times it will start to act up. I'll blip the throttle and drive off and its gone in less than 15 seconds. Tune up is in order soon so hopefully that will clear it up.

Wow, looking past the fail of this thread, is there oil in the spark plug holes? Have you changed spark plugs and wires? Changed oil? All maintenance up to date? Go through the basics first man and after all that then check back. No oil actually wouldn't cause the car to run rough then get better........ Just really really noisy.

I had this issue, on my 95, 96k on it.
But only on warm starts, after driving some, parking for 20~45 mins.
It would idle rough and pulsate, until it was warmed up maybe 30 seconds.

I changed to 5w30 mobil one, and haven't noticed it anymore. And start up lifter tick went away unless it's really cold.
It was a little low before I changed the oil.

Doesn't seem like a huge issue, just annoyed me.

Next time you for some odd reason think your oil is low do yourself a favor and instead of asking people online, who have no idea what is up with YOUR car, go take the 5 seconds it takes to check it. That makes no sense.

sorry dudes about the noob mistake. But today U drove my car from LA to the Bay and during the trip my car had smoke (burning oil smell) coming into the compartment. And it smelt like oil. Keep in mind that my car is stripped out! Is there a common oil leak area in the NA Miatas? Do any of you have this problem? And yes I looked under the hood and under the car. lol

This will be my last Noob Question :)

Valve cover gasket?
Could be leaking on to your exhaust.

Could be a few other things though.
I just changed my Valve cover gasket a few thousand miles ago.

And yes I think it might be leaking on the exhaust.
