My guess is that it is forcing you to use the skills you have instead of being able to rely on muscle memory. You can't rely on what's familiar because it isn't and it's forcing you to feel out something new after you've developed more skill.Everyone at autocross has been asking me if I got rid of my Miata to buy the M3. For one thing, I can never sell that car, but I'm also finding that my driving is suddenly progressing dramatically quicker now that I'm driving two very different cars back to back, regularly.
I'm not sure I understand it, but maybe changing cars is forcing my brain to adapt my driving style and it's making me a better driver.
It might help that the Miata and M3 are very different cars right now. Idk. It's interesting though.
