Should have it back monday.

Got a quote for ~$1000 labor to just drop the Miata off at a buddy's shop and get it back with a 2.5 in it, so that's probably the route I'll go. I don't wanna touch it. NCs kinda suck to work on. Way more competent car than the NA/NB (chassis stiffness? no kidding?) but they got that competency by cramming everything right next to everything and it kinda sucks. Go change the oil filter housing gasket, I dare you.

That’s dope Jake. Matching footstool when?

Anyone ever see some fashion bloggers and think about just going full send on your wardrobe? Damien Broderick for example. His looks are pretty simple and doable but always looks dapper.

Never. Not once. Not even when I was very much more into The Sartorialist than I am now.

I did this a couple years ago. The girl I was with at the time was big into fashion, so I fully kitted out my wardrobe. Think minimalist GQ wardrobe. I still frequently wear the big main pieces, but more often than not a hoodie, joggers, and sneakers are my go to. Dressing up "nice" doesn't quite fit my lifestlye at the moment, outside of the occasional night out or date nights.

I did discover a few brands that I'm extremely fond of and wear their stuff all the time now such as: Buck Mason, Taylor Stitch, Outerknown, and A.P.C.

And there it is. I'm an IT dude that works from home and because I'm married with kids and no family in town, you can guess how often I go out.

Speaking of fashion, I'm looking for some warm-weather shoes. Breathable/flyknit, ideally blue with gum soles and not a running/athletic shoe, more of a fashion/sneaker/everyday shoe, with comfort as a priority.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them, lol.

i feel like i'm too hard on myself at work. really makes it difficult to think clearly about an issue.

also, got my axle almost free from the hub after a solid minute of using a puller and a 1/2" impact gun. then totally forgot about the axle nut and got that stuck in the hub. progress at least?

How's the Maverick been?
Really good so far, I'm quite happy with it. I've towed my utility trailer a handful of times, helped two people move and hauled some furniture and it's been great. The MPG's have been good too, so no complaints there. The only feature I think I'll miss from my last car to this is the cooled seats. I'm not a fan of leather/pleather seats and the cooled version was a lot more tolerable in the summer.

What were the options on yours? I was attracted to it until I found out it was FWD.

The ecoboost version is AWD. The Maverick is a Ford Escape with a bed on it, which honestly is the ideal truck for a lot of half-ton owners.

Hadn't even thought about the Escape connection. Honestly not sure if I'm just making up a complaint about an FWD truck, but it just seems like a weird idea to me.

It's pretty brilliant. The FWD hybrid version, like many Ford hybrids these days, uses licensed Toyota Synergy tech, so the "CVT" in it is one of the most mechanically simple and dependable transaxle designs ever created. It's two planetaries and a couple of electric motors that blend power with the gas engine to vary the output gear ratio. Absolutely genius. I am an unabashed fanboy for these vehicles.

Also they have these little mounts all over them that Ford gives you 3d models of for 3d printing your own accessories like phone mounts, cupholders, tablet holder, walkie taklie charger/dock, etc.

The whole Maverick "ecosystem" is so freaking cool.

I like the idea of it as a cheap four-seat truck. I don't plan on ever towing anything, but it'd be nice to be able to toss something odd-shaped in the bed every once in a while while enjoying decent MPG in a vehicle that's not too large most of the time.

*it's a bronco sport with a bed.

Mine is a hybrid Lariat Lux with factory hitch. So it basically has ever option except the sunroof. The sunroof was in the $1500 first edition package, which also includes some special stickers, a black roof and a trifold soft tonneau. I don't like sunroofs and I don't like trifold tonneau covers, so I skipped the first edition package and bought my own tonneau cover.

Which vehicle of yours would you consider replacing with a Maverick? I don't see the need for AWD considering your planned usage. I am actually happy with the FWD only (though I wouldn't have complained about hybrid AWD) because it's the same drivetrain I've had in like 17/20 cars. I've had two RWD miatas and one AWD Crosstrek, everything else has been FWD. I've made it everywhere I have wanted to go in the last ~17 years with FWD and good tires.
